Friday, April 30th, 2010
Q.
Are you able to fix a large amalgam filling with a white filling or do the two materials not stick? Also I have a fine line of my front tooth which is stained, what would you recommend to remove this stain? Thank you,

My tooth colouring is off, what do you suggest?

Thursday, April 15th, 2010
Q.
Hi I was wondering if you could give me some advice, my teeth are really bad, the colouring is quiet bad but im sure I could sort that out wih whitening products, however, i went through a period of using drugs and as a result, 2 of my teeth either side have obvious signs of decay, one of which has produced a small black spot. I try to take pride in the way I look however my teeth are really having an effect on my confidence. Is there anything I could do about this or do I just have to live with it. If you could give me some advice I would be extreemly grateful as I am too shy to ask personally. Thanks,

I would like to have my teeth whitened, will this whiten the colour of my bridge and cap too?

Friday, April 9th, 2010
Q.
Hello, I am looking into having either my teeth bleached or verneers done, the problem is from a young age i suffered with my teeth, they just seemed to decay more than any other people my age even though i never ate things which were bad for my teeth and my dentist could never understand it. At the age of nine i fell and smashed my front teeth i had caps fitted and at the age of 16 my dentist advised for me to have a bridge done. As i have gotten older my teeth have seemed to become stronger but around 4 months ago i changed my dentist and she informed me of some disease/disoreder i have which means i am more prone to tooth decay and discolouration. I don’t smoke or drink and have a very healthy diet, i have my teeth scrapped and polished regularly yet they still look discoloured. I am happy with the shape of my teethbut am desperate to have them whitened, i have enquired into this and been told different things each time. Is it possible for me to have them whitened or will my bridge and cap look two completely different colours. Thankyou,

Hi Dr Solanki, My Wife has a cap on one of her front teeth. Can she have her teeth whitened and keep the cap (thirty years old) which is of good quality and design? I’d like to have her teeth whitened for her birthday in May. Regards, John.,

My dentist is very unprofessional, what do you suggest?

Wednesday, April 7th, 2010
Q.
Hi, this isn’t really a cosmetic question but I am really fed up with my dentist. She is a new nhs dentist (I am assuming straight out of uni) and has filled a tooth of mine with a white filling twice now. Both times it has been sensitive and she is now recommending root canal treatment. In between these two fillings she put a temporary filling in (on my friends recommendations who happen to be dentists) which was absolutely fine – no sensitivity whatsover which leads me to believe that the nerve is not the problem. She is very unprofessional and I do not trust her to do any more work on my teeth! What would you suggest? Change dentist and get the work completed elsewhere? I am concerned that the problem may be the white filling (or her work) rather than the tooth itself! Thanks.,

How long would it take my teeth to grow down after having my white fillings

Friday, December 18th, 2009
Q.
Hi Julian, I have a couple of points that I need some help on. 1) One of my bottom inscisors has grown inwards and has little room. My dentist has recommended removing it – however I am concerned about the symmetry in my lower mouth and fear losing a biting tooth. What are you views on this? 2) I have ground my teeth down over a number of years – about 3-4mm according to my dentist. He has recommended building them up with white filling and then letting my back teeth grow down over time? I’m a little concerned about the strength of this method and how long it would take for my teeth to grow down following this. I am a 37 male if this helps. Any thoughts are much appreciated. Rgds
