I had the small gap in my front teeth closed but now it’s reappearing, what should I do?

Saturday, December 4th, 2010
Q.

Hi, I had a metal brace years ago to straighten two potroding incisors and close a small gap between my to front teeth. When i got my brace off i was given a plastic clear retainer to wear. However I dont think i kept it on long enough and now years later the gap has slightly appeared and an incisor is starting to potrude again. It doesnt look that bad, but im worried if i leave it, it ill get worse and i want the gap closed. Are there any minor treatments you would advise? and a rough estimate of cost?

If I had veneers placed after my Invisalign treatment would they be able to provide me with a retainer also?

Saturday, December 4th, 2010
Q.

I am nearing the end of my invisalign treatment (nearly 2 years) and I am unhappy with the results.

I have a bonded retainer at the bottom but it is uncomfortable and the other teeth have moved back causing one to be wobbley, its been like that for the last 8 months.

When I finish the top set my ortho wants another bonded retainer. I think I will want veneers so want to avoid the bonded retainer.

If I get veneers done elsewhere will they still be able to provide me with a retainerk, If so what retainer and how much will it cost?

Thanks

What are my best options to correct a protruding canine tooth and slight overbite?

Thursday, December 2nd, 2010
Q.

Good Afternoon Dr. Verma,

I visited two orthodontists and a dentist for my right upper canine tooth that is slightly protruding.

The first orthodontists, said that i needed to remove both left and right 2nd premolars and wear braces for two years then retainers, because i also have a slight overbite.

The second said the same thing. but i only need it on top.

The dentist said that since its the canine tooth that’s protruding, i could wear a hawley retainer to pull/push it in for a year.

Do you think the hawley retainer would actually work?

And is it really necessary for them to remove the premolars if it is slightly protruding?

Do I need a brace or retainer if my front tooth has moved slightly?

Thursday, December 2nd, 2010
Q.

I had a filling done on a premolar in august. afterward my bite was not right so i went back and had a bit filed off of it. it was still not quite right but much better than before and became more comfortable. however now my front tooth on the same side as the filling is twisting forward slightly. it has always been slightly in front of my other front tooth but definitely moving further forward. my tooth is not wobbly but i can feel it move slightly if i press my tongue against it. i think the filling has caused my teeth to sit wrong and therefore push this tooth out a bit.

will a further filing of the filling be sufficient to get the front tooth back in place/stop it getting worse? or do you think i might need a brace or retainer?

One of my teeth has shifted since I’ve had my braces off, how can I fix this?

Thursday, November 18th, 2010
Q.
Hi Dr I have had the whole process of braces in my teens. I did everything that the dentist told me but for a few years now one tooth had started to move back. Just to let you know its the tooth next to the front two teeth, I think it is called the lateral incisor? I have visited the dentist for several check up’s and every time she says there is nothing that she can do to move the tooth forward to its original position.Overall I have nice teeth but its that one tooth that makes my whole smile look wonky. What do you think I should do? Thank you,

What options are available to correct a gap in my teeth that has emerged after braces?

Wednesday, November 17th, 2010
Q.
Hi, I had braces in my mid- teens and had to have two teeth taken out. I was assured that there would be no gaps left when the treatment was completed. But there was a gap. It is not as large as the original canine was but still is large (about 3/4 mms in width). I was told I could get braces again but that the gap would re-emerge. I declined. Another dentist told me it is too small a gap for bridges to be used. I am in my mid-twenties now and I want this fixed, for cosmetic reasons but also because the other teeth are starting to slowly seperate from one another. Please provide some solutions. Thanks,

Its only been in the las couple of years my teeth have started to move again and I feel that they are now worse than they was in the past! one of my front teeth is being pushed back by the tooth next to it which sticks out a bit now too! I was just wondering what would be the best treatment for me. im a full time mum so trying to keep costs down as much as possible, thanks for your help,
