One of my teeth has shifted since I’ve had my braces off, how can I fix this?

Q. Hi Dr I have had the whole process of braces in my teens. I did everything that the dentist told me but for a few years now one tooth had started to move back. Just to let you know its the tooth next to the front two teeth, I think it is called the lateral incisor? I have visited the dentist for several check up’s and every time she says there is nothing that she can do to move the tooth forward to its original position.Overall I have nice teeth but its that one tooth that makes my whole smile look wonky. What do you think I should do? Thank you,
A. I think you should see a different Dentist and maybe a Cosmetic Invisalign Dentist for a consultation. If it’s just one tooth that is your main concern, invisalign treatment might be an option for you. You would need to wear a retainer at the end of treatment, it can be either fixed or removable.

This is why its so important to have a lifetime commitment to wearing retainers. I’ve been wearing mine 3 x a week for 10 years and they still look good. If the tooth is the only problem, you can either live with the tooth and have another retainer made to stop them moving more but if you want it fixed, try invisalign as Dr Hughes suggest. Afterwards, wear your retainers religiously and don’t neglect it as you’ll save yourself a huge headache and maintain a beaming smile – good luck!

what is the best type of retainer to wear after having the invisalign treatment?-removable or fixed? i am due to finsh my invisalign treeatment in about 6 weeks and the dentist tells me that I will have a choice between the two types of retainer, but i am still unsure which would be the best for me. What is your experience with using these retainers with patients who have finished invisalign? Is the fixed retainer better, or the removable retainer?

The fixed retainer is good, but difficult to keep clean. I have teeth move even after fixed retention. My choice is x3 Invisalign removable retainers, worn 2-3 times per week at night
