What are my best options to correct a protruding canine tooth and slight overbite?

Q.
Good Afternoon Dr. Verma,

I visited two orthodontists and a dentist for my right upper canine tooth that is slightly protruding.

The first orthodontists, said that i needed to remove both left and right 2nd premolars and wear braces for two years then retainers, because i also have a slight overbite.

The second said the same thing. but i only need it on top.

The dentist said that since its the canine tooth that’s protruding, i could wear a hawley retainer to pull/push it in for a year.

Do you think the hawley retainer would actually work?

And is it really necessary for them to remove the premolars if it is slightly protruding?

A.
Dear Enquirer,
You have visited two orthodontists which is absolutely the correct thing to do when you are considering improving the position of your protruding canine. Orthodontists are specialists in their own field and I would take their advice as their training means that they are the best people to correct the look and the bite of your teeth. Do go back to the orthodontist that you were most comfortable with and pose these questions back to them so you can get the full picture of their recommendations.
I hope this helps,
Sunita
