Is bonding a good option for getting rid of a noticeable gap?

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010
Q.
Hi i have a gap between my two front teeth, it is reasonably big and very noticable. I had a brace for a year and it closed, but as soon as it came off the gap came back. Its really affecting me, every time i meet someone new i feel like they are staring at my teeth and i can’t stand it. I was wondering what you recommend doing? Is bonding a good option? Please help Thanks,

I’m wearing braces again to fix my overbite again, will they fix it this time?

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010
Q.
ok, well so what happened was that I’ve been wearing braces for almost about …..2 and a half years before I got them removed. Then later I started wearing a retainer, (but only at nights). I kind of slacked off a little, (as in I skipped a few nights) and now after visisting the orthodontist, he told me that my overbite was coming back, my teeth were a little crooked (but when i looked in the mirror, it only moved a tiny bit) So now I have to wear my retainer 24/7 for the next 8 weeks in order to reverse these changes. My problem is that he said there wasn’t a garuntee that it would work, and if it didn’t I would be stuck wearing my braces again to fix my overbite. so I guess what I’m trying to ask is, do you think everything will be back to normal again by 8 weeks as long as I wear them 24/7 ?? I’m really scared that if I do have to wear braces that my mom will kill me. Thanks,

My bottom teeth have shifted after brace treatment. Would replacement retainers be able to fix this shift?

Tuesday, August 24th, 2010
Q.
I’ve finished my initial braces treatment and have been using retainers for a couple of months now. I recently lost my bottom retainer and noticed that my bottom teeth have shifted about 3 mm. I was just wondering if replacement retainers would be able to fix this shift or if I’d have to get braces again. Money is an issue, so I’d like to stick to the retainers if possible. Thanks for a help!,

I’ve always looked after my teeth, but I really want a better smile. Do you have any advice?

Hi Dr Bohara. I was really looking for some advise or perhaps pointing in the right direction. I have always looked after my teeth, never had any major issues. However i really want a better smilei have quite a narrow teeth rack. which does make my mouth look like i have a gap between my teeth and cheek. Id like a fuler smile. I read that a gum shield type retainer would resolve it but im unsure ! I really want to put the ball in motion but dont know where to start. Can you help because my smile stresses me out. Many Thanks for your time,

I have been wearing a retainer, but my teeth feel loose. It’s been three months since I told my dentist and it’s not getting better. Any advice?

Hi There… I have been back and forth to a dentist for the past 4 years now having my teeth straightened. I now have to wear a retainer at night. However, i have noticed that my teeth are loose and wobbly. My dentist says that this will settle down, but it has been 3 months now and there is no sign that this is getting any better… Is this normal / common. How long will it take to get better and if it doesn’t are there any other corrective treatments that i can have…? Thanks,

Can to recommend a solution to correct problems I’m having with front teeth?

Wednesday, August 11th, 2010
Q.
Dear Dr Glaister, I used to suck my thumb as a child, and when my upper wisdom teeth came out, my front teeth got pushed forward. I had the wisdom teeth removed, and was given retainers, which I wore for almost 3 years. My problem is that my front two teeth are positioned a little lower than the rest, especially on the right side of my mouth, where my incisor sits above the rest of the teeth, as it began to grow over my milk tooth. So when I laugh, my teeth are not perfectly aligned in height. I also feel as though my teeth protrude just a fraction over my bottom lip when i smile. I am now 24. Could you please tell me whether there is a solution to this at all, and if it involves braces, a quicker way of correcting this? Thank You.,

I wear a permanent retainer but my teeth no longer seem straight. Should I get a removable retainer to wear at night?

Monday, August 9th, 2010
Q.
I’m 20, I had braces for 8 years, and have had them off since I was 15. I have a permanent retainer on the top and bottom, but I have noticed my top teeth are no longer straight. I don’t know if it’s because my wisdom teeth are coming in (because i’m around the right age for that) or what’s going on? Should i go to my dentist to get a removable retainer to wear at night?,

I’m worried it will carry on twisting and i will end up with it protruding, what should I do?

Friday, August 6th, 2010
Q.
Hey, I used to have upper and lower fixed braces when I was about 12 up until I was 19. The upper set was (apparently) pulling my jaw back inline as i had a slight over bite (u could just fit a finger tip in). I had the top set removed when i was 17 and the bottom removed at 19. My question is that I have noticed that within the last 3 or 4 months my top front left hand ( my left) tooth is starting to twist. The only way I can describe it is that it is like my teeth are moving forward and the right hand tooth is almost forcing itself underneith it. I wouldnt say that it causes me discomfort but I can feel the pressure of it twisting like I felt when I had braces. Do you have any ideas what may be causing this? My own dentist says that this sometimes just happens over time as we age however Im only coming up for 22!! Im worried it will carry on twisting and i will end up with it protruding, I didnt go through 7 years of pain for twisted teeth!,
