How many dental implants will I need to replace my denture?

Tuesday, February 21st, 2012
Q.

I currently have a metal denture with 2 back teeth each side which i have had for about 3 months, i sleep in it and although I can now chew food it doesn’t taste the same and food gets lodged underneath the plate when I am eating. I have had my wisdom teeth out an have no back teeth at all. Would I need 4 implants and approximately what cost am I looking at? How long would the treatment be expected to take. I am an insulin dependant diabetic other than slower healing would this make any difference?

Should I have cosmetic treatment or just settle for dentures?

Friday, November 25th, 2011
Q.

I am a 65 years old female with quite crooked bottom and top teeth. I have twice had my top front teeth treated, the last time (about 10 years ago) when I had a veneer on one tooth to bring it into line and a crown on the other one because it was crooked. However I have always thought this crown was quite large and didn’t look right – this was made obvious when none of my friends ever mentioned that I’d had anything done! I would like to have something done with this top tooth but don’ t know what – my dentist who is new to the surgery suggests visalign on my top and bottom but I cant afford it – a few hundred is my lot! I have thought about having them all out and a set of dentures – my husband isn’t happy! My bottom teeth (although I have had teeth whitening treatment on them) are still marked on the very bottoms Should I just give up at my age?

I have a missing tooth but I don’t want dentures and can’t afford implants, are there any other options?

Monday, November 14th, 2011
Q.

I have a tooth missing , I am 22 years old and having a tooth missing is making me very wary of smiling. It is right at the front.
I have looked at all the websites of the local dentists but its the same story, its either a denture or an implant, problem is the implant costs thousands is there no other way without ending up with a denture. One dentist is telling me that i should just have a couple more teeth taken out because they are poor state and another dentist says its just cosmetic, I paid eighty pound at a private dentist to see what i needed done , so i didnt have any other work suggested by my original dentist that could make things worse. I am so frustrated because the private dentist came up with 8000 pound worth of treatment that needed to be carried out. I am a carer so obviously I don’t have to give away and nor did i get an answer to what i can do for my teeth that is going to cost me a fortune. Is there any treatment that can get my teeth in a healthy state and cover the gap at the front of my teeth that is in within my price range ?

I have severe periodontitis and wanted to know the best replacement treatment for my teeth.

Wednesday, October 5th, 2011
Q.

Please could you advise me i am so worried and although i know the situation is terrible some sound advice would at least help me to rest. I have aggressive periodontitis. With the result that i am only 34 and my bone loss is so sever on my front bottom teeth that my dentist said that i won’t them for much longer. I have moved around a lot in my life and seen different dentists and therefore not been under the care of one. This dentist said she will refer me to the hospital after my next hygienist visit but this will be in three months time. Meanwhile she said that there is nothing i can do but wait for my teeth to fall out (aside of course from impeccable hygiene).

My question is this. Would it be better to have my teeth pulled out to preserve any bone that remains. And is it possible if the bone loss is so severe that i may not be able to have dentures? This is my worst nightmare.
I have researched online and would like to know if periodontal laser therapy might be an option.

I do appreciate how busy you are but would so greatly appreciate any advice you are able to give me.
P.S I currently get help with NHS costs as although iam a professional I am a single parent. Thank you so much for taking the time to respond.

I have bruxism, am I still a suitable candidate for implants?

Wednesday, September 14th, 2011
Q.

I have receeding gums and worn down teeth due to bruxism since childhood. I am now 50 and it is getting worse. Can I have implants when I have to lose teeth or is this not feasible? I have already lost a tooth and possibly losing another back tooth due to grinding. I have read that sufferes of bruxism cannot have implants as their gums and bones are already damaged by this condition. I am also a smoker. I DONT even consider having to result in dentures that would be my worst nightmare. Is there anything that can be done to haice set of teeth for people like me. I live in the UK.

I have lost two teeth but can’t afford implants, what can I do?

Thursday, September 8th, 2011
Q.

Hello Mr moore, back in 2009 when i fell pregnant i had a tooth fall out, so i took a trip to the dentist and was told nothing could be done till after the birth my child, however the dentist was new and alittle rough in handling me, and i was slightly put off, therefore i didnt return for some months, however after yet another tooth fell out i went back, because you see both teeth were baby teeth so there was nothing there to replace them. so i was offered dentures but im only young, i asked for the alternative which i was told are implants but it would cost me £3000 in total for both. But i can’t afford that, i’m a full time student with a small child. is there no way of getting them done for free on nhs or at least cheaper. this is really affecting me now as i have two gaps on either side of my mouth. i wasnt warned that this could happen to me, as id attended the same dental practice for years, they even fitted me with a strange brace when i was 15yrs old, that i was suppose to tighten every week with this little metal key, however the plastic bridge was so thick and sat on my tongue when fitted in my mouth i would gag everytime i tried to talk therefore couldnt wear it. i was told they would fit me with another one and never did. They were meant to close the gaps. I just dont know what to do.. help.

My teeth are overcrowded what is the best treatment option out of braces, dentures or implants?

Wednesday, August 31st, 2011
Q.

I am 31 years old. I havecrowded teeth. That I have been embarassed of most of my life. They are hard to clean and painful when I eat and they ache sometimes. Are dentures a good option for me? I can’t really afford braces. I was thinking dentures would be a quick, less expensive fix. I’ve been reading about the implants that allow the dentures to snap into place for a better fit and I think that sounds like a good option. Are these a good idea? How long do dentures typically last before a replacement is needed? Please any advice would be appreciated.

Can IV sedation be used during tooth extractions?

Tuesday, August 23rd, 2011
Q.

Can you extract teeth whilst I am IV sedated. I have not been to the dentist for 30 years and hate my teeth and just want them out and replaced by false ones. Please help me. I had a terrible experience as a child and I now cannot even consider goimng to a surgery if it means poking around in my mouth and injections for extractions later on. My upper right wisdom tooth is hurting and 3 of my upper fromt teeth have bits missing from decay. All my teeth apart from my incisors have hurt me at some time in the past but this lastest ache is becoming intolerable
