I’m About To Have Most Of My Teeth Out Before I Get Married And I Want To Know If Anything Else Can Be Done Other Than Dentures Or Implants?

Monday, September 30th, 2013
Q.

I need most of my teeth removed as I can’t afford implants. Are there any other alternative options other than dentures or implants as I am getting married and my teeth are rotten and brown, I’m embarrassed to smile. I will have 6 remaining teeth, 2 at the top and 4 at the bottom. I have had mental health issues that prevented treatment earlier, I’m in a lot of pain and I need to feel confident and look good on my wedding day.  I get lots of comments and funny looks at the moment and it knocks my confidence back down, I am desperate to have a bit of confidence back and to control my mental health and I feel a nice, healthy smile would help me achieve that.

I Have Dental Implants And My Bottom Denture Rocks Up And Down In My Mouth. Is This Normal?

Tuesday, September 24th, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Shaffie. When you get dental implants I would like to know how well are they supposed to fit into your mouth? Do you know if they are they supposed to rock up and down inside your mouth? Or should they be lying flat down on to your gums? I have dental implants and my bottom denture rocks up and down in my mouth. I don’t think my dentist has got them right and it worries me to think I might do some permanent damage if I don’t get it fixed. I hope you can help me with this problem. Thank you in advance for any consideration.

My Daughter Has Been Suffering With Bulimia And She Needs Help As She Doesn’t Want Dentures. What Can Be Done?

Wednesday, September 18th, 2013
Q.

Hello can you please help?
My daughter has big problems with her teeth after suffering with bulimia over several years. We are trying to find a sympathetic person to help her and so far with the dentists in our region (North Wales) they have not been particularly helpful. We are not a well off family but I have offered to help her try and find somebody who is willing to look at her ~ her present dentist has suggested dentures, she is only 34 and I feel this person doesn’t really care much. She has just lost a front tooth and is absolutely mortified about it and I feel so sorry as she is a beautiful girl. Please can someone help to put the smile back on my lovely daughters face without us having to take out a mortgage to do it? With thanks.

My Father’s New False Teeth Are Wobbly, What Sort Of Price Am I Looking at To Get Them Fixed?

Friday, September 13th, 2013
Q.

Hi Dr Mark Hughes,

My dad had his front four teeth taken out and fitted with false permanent teeth. However, all four teeth are wobbly now and I think they may soon to fall out. He finds it hard to bite on certain foods in the fear it will all fall out sooner. I think they need to be replaced as a good job was not done on them in the first place. What sort of price am I looking at to have them re-done and can they be re-done?

Thanks.

My Teeth Are In A Bad Condition And I’m Diabetic, Please Offer Me Some Advise?

Thursday, September 12th, 2013
Q.

Hello. Basically I’d like to state that my teeth are terrible and it makes me cringe just looking at them. I would say there are only eight good teeth and one of them is a wisdom tooth, it is getting to the point now where I’m struggling to eat proper meals and being diabetic and only twenty-one years old makes it so embarrassing, the fact that I’m even contemplating a dentist makes me want to cry.  I really don’t know what to do any more and it’s even affecting my work life, please any advice would be so useful,
thank you for taking the time to read this.

I’ve Seen A Few Dentists Over My Gum Disease And Now Want To Find A Reliable Dentist For Treatment. What Would This Cost?

Friday, September 6th, 2013
Q.

Hello. I am 35 years old, I have hereditary gum disease and all my teeth are loose in my gums. I have seen a few NHS dentists, and seen a hygienist at what I feel was wasted cost. It makes me feel incredibly unhappy to think it’s not going to be long until I am toothless! How much am I looking at getting a complete set of implants upper and lower sets including consultations, x-rays, aftercare etc. Are there any payment plans available? Also could you recommend any good reliable dentists? Travelling is not a problem for me within the UK. Thank you.

I Need To Know If I Can Have A Tooth Replacement Via A Crown Instead Of Having To Wear Dentures?

Monday, September 2nd, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Patel, I need to tell you that I currently have a missing front tooth, and I am wondering if you know whether I can have a false one fitted via a crown, instead of having to wear dentures? I have stopped smoking as to help my dental hygiene and have lost most of my lower back teeth as well. My other related problems are that I get chronic indigestion and sore gums, and I have stained teeth due to a medicine I was given as a baby and had crowns fitted fifteen years ago to make me have white teeth. I keep on top of my oral health and brush my teeth twice a day and I also use cordisol mouthwash. I really hope you can guide me in these matters, kind regards and thank you.

Will Dentures Work For My Missing Teeth?

Monday, August 19th, 2013
Q.

Hi, I have just lost my bridge from my lower left gum, in the process i have had to have an extraction of my LL7 basically my back molar. Which has left me with 3 teeth missing and my LL4 has just had a crown and apicoectomy. Which left me with a floating bone, I am ruling out implants because of the price and the fact I may have weak bones in my mouth, I have been looking for a perfect fit denture with no regards to price and have come across valplast dentures. Would it be possible to have this denture considering i have no back molar to sit it on. Also do you think these dentures are the best available.i would like to sort this out but want to choose the right dentures so that i am not in the same position again. thanks

My Teeth Are Completely Rotten, What Are My Options?

Thursday, July 4th, 2013
Q.

Hi, I wondered if you could please advise me on something? If one’s teeth are completely rotten and dentures cannot be attached to any of them, what are the other possible solutions? If all the teeth are to be removed, will the person need to have at least one or two teeth implanted in order to wear dentures? The patient’s teeth are completely rotten and he is unable to eat. I am writing on behalf of him, we’re not sure where to turn. Considering the cost of dental implants, is there a cost-effective solution to this problem? We would just like a general idea so we can gather the correct funds, get in touch with the right dentists for example. We’re sort of new to the whole implant dentistry/cosmetic dentistry so we don’t really have a clue on how to go about getting the right information. This is why we came here and asked for your help. Thank you very much for your advice in advance.

I Have Been Told That I Am Unsuitable For Any Brace Treatment, Now What?

Thursday, June 20th, 2013
Q.

Hi, Dr Butt. I wondered if you could please advise me on something? I have crooked teeth but I have been told that I am unsuitable for any kind of braces or aligner as my top jaw is too narrow so there is no room for my teeth to actually straighten out. I had teeth removed as a child to make room for the rest to straighten out but this never happened and so I have been told I would need surgery. I don’t like the idea of surgery so am considering either implants or dentures as a total replacement. Will this be possible and which is best for the long term? I am in my early 30’s so want a long term solution. And something that would be cost efficient too, is there any treatment I can receive via finance options or anything of the sort that you know of? As I doubt any of the treatment I need would be available through the NHS. Thanks!
