Should I Go for Shade B2 or B3 for a Full Mouth Restoration?

March 10th, 2015
Q.

I am trying to decide between B2 and B3 shade for a full mouth restoration. I am a 54 year old female and I have a big smile and I am pretty. My dentist thinks B2 is too white. I love the look of upper white and he thinks it looks unnatural. I don’t want to glow in the dark but I want to look clean and bright, what is your opinion on shade other than following my own
thoughts? Also what is the trend? Thank you.

Should I Be Concerned That my 3 Year Old Has Decay Beneath Her Crown?

March 10th, 2015
Q.

My 3 year old has 3 crowns and one of them is turning yellow. Should I be concerned that there is decay underneath? She doesn’t complain of any pain at all. The crowns were done at 2 years old and she had a fall in which this cap that is turning was resurfaced. Please give me some idea of what can be done, if anything, that won’t be a traumatic experience for a three year old, as she has been though a lot already. Thank you.

As a Nervous Patient, How Can I Get My Front Tooth Repaired?

March 10th, 2015
Q.

Hi! I have a huge fear of the dentist due to having several heavy handed dentists when I was a lot younger who didn’t address my fear at al, which has caused me not to visit a dentist for around 4 years. I am 22, and have very weak enamel on my teeth. I do try to maintain a healthy diet, however I have suffered from re-flux in the past which I believe has caused an increase in the decay in my teeth. My front tooth weakened and chipped 4 years ago and I was told I may need root canal treatment. However at first I was given a filling and I was too scared to go back after this, and since then my back teeth are suffering. My teeth would often break off slowly which has resulted in my losing 2 lower teeth and one upper on the right hand side and one lower one upper on left. This is very frightening for me and I’ve found it so hard to visit a dentist due to my fear. I desperately want my front tooth repaired as it is becoming thinner all the time. I also am having difficulty eating due to my back teeth. Is there anything that will resolve these underlying issues? I’m terrified of a dentist saying there’s nothing they can do and I eventually lose all my teeth. Thank you.

Can I Use the Inman Aligner to Straighten my Upper Six Front Teeth?

March 10th, 2015
Q.

Good day, I hope you are well. Could you tell me please if I can use an Inman Aligner method to straighten my upper six front teeth? Also, is it important to treat bad teeth before using this method? My problem is that I have quite few broken teeth and my upper front teeth are not straight. I would be really helpful if you could provide me with all necessary information

Thank you. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Can I Have Veneers Placed Over My Implants?

March 9th, 2015
Q.

Hello. Can I have veneers over my 3 implants? I’m not happy with my smile, I have a very small mouth and a crocked smile. My teeth don’t show much at all when I smile. I have paid £7,000 for implants at my dental practice in York. Hope you can give me some advice on this as I expected the results to be better than this, the implants are my upper 3 front teeth. I also, after 3 years, still get a numb feeling in my nose above the implants? Many thanks.

Can I Get Fixed Dentures on the NHS?

March 9th, 2015
Q.

I’m a 48 year old woman with most of my back teeth missing. I also have gum disease and 2 caps at the front bottom of my mouth which I have had for 32 years. They are terribly off-colour and my gums have badly receded on these 2 teeth particularly. This is making it uncomfortable for me to eat! I was told by a friend that under 50 year olds can have fixed (screw in?) dentures on the NHS. Is this true and if so where would I be able to obtain this treatment? I obviously realise that I would have to have my remaining teeth removed but I am so unhappy with them that would be something I would be prepared to do. Thank you.

Can an Overbite be Corrected?

March 6th, 2015
Q.

Hi. I am a 45 year old woman who has had braces for the last two years due to close excessive spacing in my teeth (gaps between the two front teeth and the the incisors on either side). There has been an improvement however, it has been a struggle to get the gaps completely closed and eventually my orthodontist suggested I go to a dentist who will use CEREC or veneers to fill in the gaps. The dentist I was referred to has put in temporary fillings, and will insert the permanent ones in the near future. The temporary fillings seem to have made my two front teeth too wide and a bit longer. An additional unfortunate part of the whole treatment (braces) is that I now have an overbite. I have internal lingual braces at the top and external ones at the bottom. As a result of the overbite, my bottom teeth rest on the internal braces and the top teeth on the external braces at the bottom. I pointed this out to my orthodontist and we’ve began a process to rectify this. I think the braces has completely altered my face structure thus the overbite. I do not like the way I now look and wonder if the overbite can be corrected? The temporary fillings have to come out and be replaced with permanent ones, if I decide not to proceed with the treatment of filling the gaps and get the fillings taken out (I was informed that not much “chipping” of my natural teeth was done when the fillings were made)? I am desperate – it has been a very long two years and I am not sure I can mange to undertake this process for any longer, and want to know what to do. I hope you can help me. Your advice is highly appreciated. Thank you.

Why Is My Tooth Hurting So Much?

March 6th, 2015
Q.

Hi. Earlier this week I had a bad tooth ache so I went to the dental practice and I was told I have to have a tooth removed. I explained to the woman that the pain was constant and I couldn’t lay on the side of my face so she gave me amoxicillin to take for a week. As time has gone on the pain has got worse, and there’s swelling as the tooth is hurting my jaw and is starting to ache. I also have a sharp shooting pain down my whole gum the left side. So the question I wanted to ask was why? My jaw started to hurt and why is the pain spreading down my whole gum?

Why Do My Teeth Ache all the Time?

March 6th, 2015
Q.

Hi. I have been having some problems with my teeth now for some time, probably nearly a year. They ache and hurt all the time it seems. Due to this my teeth have started to move; my two front teeth now overlap causing a gap between the others next to it. I was told by the dentist this was normal and due to my jaw changing shape and my teeth rearranging to suit, but I was told it may last years and come and go. I am getting really worried now that the pain is not going to go and my teeth are going to be even less straight then they already are, and overlap further. I am also worried it’s not even this and it’s something else and my teeth might become loose and fall out.

What Options do I Have to Replace my Partial Denture?

March 6th, 2015
Q.

I’ve just had an old bridge removed as it kept getting infected so I’ve now got a partial denture to replace the three missing teeth. It is already annoying me and giving me headaches. I just can’t wait to get it out of my mouth. It’s the left front tooth then the two next to it. I do have other teeth at both sides but the strain from the denture on my other front tooth is worrying me as it aches when I take the denture out. Could you advise me on what options I have and the cost?
