Can my gum disease be treated?

Q. I have just been told that I have gum disease. I am 21 and admittedlly I abused my teeth during my teenage years. I have had all the plaque removed but at the back of my bottom front teeth, on the gum is what could be described as a hole or a ditch. is there anyway to cure this and will this hole/dithc be recovered ? thanks,
A. the most important thing is to stabilse the gum disease so that you don’t loose any more bone support underneath the gum. Once stable you can look at cosmetic procedures.Rob
