can i have teeth whitening after braces

Sunday, August 17th, 2008
Q.
Hi! I am due to have my braces removed in November of this year after 4 years of orthodontic and dental treatment. Although i am now really happy with the alignment of my teeth, my teeth don’t seem to be as white as they were before i had braces and some of my teeth look “marked”, i was told this could be from the various types of braces i had to have (retainers, head-gear, fixed braces…) i have been told that the teeth may look better once my fixed brace is finally removed but is whitening treatment a viable option to improve the appearence of the marks and if so is there an age restriction (i am 16)? Thank you for your time

teeth whitening kit has given me sensitive teeth

Friday, August 15th, 2008
Q.
I bought a tooth whitening kit from a private dental surgery and explained that I had very sensitive teeth beforehand. He checked my teeth and said they would be fine and that I should purchase Tooth mousse. I used it once and haven’t been able to use it again as I was in agony. No amount of sensitive toothpaste helped. I really want them whitening but can’t suffer that for 2 weeks. My own dentist tells me that due to prolonged smoking, I have a mild case of gum recession and possibly my nerves may be exposed. How can I whiten them without the pain? I bought daywhite. 2hours was too long and it should have been on longer. Help, I have stopped smiling because of the colour of my teeth, although my dentist says they are still very healthy.

I want stain free straight teeth

Thursday, August 14th, 2008
Q.
Hello, I had braces 2 years ago and had such a hectic lifestyle that i did not give thorough attention to cleaning my teeth very well around the braces. Overtime I hated wearing them and got them removed. This left my teeth with strong stains which I am unable to get rid off to date. My teeth are so tightly packed and where these stains reside leads to rotting in that area. However I took out two teeth in my upper jaw when getting the braces. My dentist says that I will require a lifetime of treatment with a filling almost at all checkups that i’ll have…you can imagine that I have now become used to those painful injections. I want each tooth to be totally free of these stains and want them perfectly straight. Is cosmetic dentistry an option?

white spts after using crest white strips

Thursday, August 14th, 2008
Q.
Hello Dr. Caplan. I have been using Crest Premium White Strips for about 3 days. I noticed from the beginning that white spots were beginning to form. I now have a rather large white spot on my teeth. The instructions say the white spots will go away after a few hours, but mine have not. They have been there for more than a few days now. What should I do?! Can I get rid of them??? Please email me back! Your expert advice is much appreciated. Thank you so much! Sincerely, Nick

Hi there, I want to get my teeth whitened and have discovered there are a few options. Zoom whitening followed by teeth whitening trays at home or my own dentist suggested that I just use teeth whitening trays with solution at home voco whitening system. My teeth aren’t that bad but I would like them to look better. What do you recommend?
