I had root canal treatment carried out by my local NHS dentist on my front top
tooth. In time, this discoloured my tooth. I am vary aware of this and it does affect me personally when I come to smile. I cannot afford veneers but was informed by someone who had a veneer done for free on one of her front teeth.
Could I myself have this done free of charge from my dentist? I have not approached my dentist regarding this because I wanted as much information as possible regarding my options before I asked, as they say knowledge is power!

Can I Get a Veneer Free on the NHS?
Wednesday, April 22nd, 2015I Want To Have The Perfect, Hollywood Smile. I Am Unsure Of Which Treatment Can Achieve This. Can You Help?
Friday, October 17th, 2014Hello, Dr. I would like your advice please. I have never been happy with my teeth. They’re not too bad, but they’re not too good either. I want to have perfect teeth, as in a Hollywood smile. I am willing to pay whatever the costs are, except that I don’t know what I am looking for exactly? Is it veneers? I am unsure which product/service I need in order to achieve the smile that I want. Please could you advise?
Would really appreciate your advice. Thank you.
Can I Have My Teeth Trimmed Down And Would This Cause Any Sensitivity Or Pain?
Monday, October 6th, 2014Hi Marcus, I am 34 year old, male. My two front teeth are too big for the others. Can the teeth be trimmed without having to wear braces, veneers, a cap and/or crowns? The second thing I would like to know is whether this would cause me any sensitivity problems? I don’t want any sensitivity or pain as I currently don’t have any tooth problems. I don’t want to use braces and would only trim 2 of my front teeth without the use of veneers. Is this possible? Thanks.
I Would Like To Have My Veneers Removed Before I Have The Six Month Smiles Treatment. Will This Be Possible?
Thursday, January 30th, 2014 Hi there Mark,
I have had two veneers (on the teeth either side of my front teeth) for almost 15 years. They are not porcelain but are very old, stained and I have not been happy with them for a very long time. I am seriously thinking of the six month smile programme. I have my first consultation with my dentist next week. I am suddenly concerned though, would the dentist be happy to take these veneers off? My teeth were not changed in any way underneath to fit the veneers. I would just love to have them removed so that my own teeth could fitted with the brace. Is this possible?
I Have Researched Different Options On How To Fix A Gummy Smile, Which Course Of Action Is Best To Consider?
Friday, October 4th, 2013I have a gummy smile.
I am trying to find which options are best for me.
I have seen two dentists and they don’t seem to have all the facts. They only seem to think that veneers are the answer; they weren’t aware of any other options.
But from my research, there seems to be the following solutions: Lip repositioning surgery and/or Botox, orthodontic treatment, orthognathic surgery, crown lengthening and veneers afterwards, gum removal by laser or scalpel. I am currently having orthodontic treatment, as I was led to believe this would solve the problem. The orthodontist has now told me that it can’t, so I need to seek other solutions. I have had lip repositioning surgery and Botox, but this did not work. Plus these are both temporary solutions.
What other solutions are there? Who can I consult with to get an overview of all of the options?
I Have Temporary Veneers That Are Affecting My Speech, Will The Permanent Veneers Resolve This Problem?
Tuesday, October 1st, 2013I am having two veneers on my two front teeth replaced. Originally my temporary veneers were thick and too long and I had a problem with pronouncing letters and also they dug into my lower lip. The temporaries have now been thinned and shortened and that has removed the problem except that now my speech feels lazy. My priority has always been speech over look of teeth so I am concerned now there is another issue.
My dentist and I both agree that the temps are now too short and that the permanent veneers will be longer.
Do you think that the current shorter length of the temp veneers could be the cause of the lazy speech and that it will therefore resolve when the permanent ones are slightly longer? Also, to the left of front teeth I have an old bridge which is has always stuck out beyond adjacent front tooth at the bottom of the tooth. My dentist has matched the position of the veneers to this bridge which means my teeth will be positioned further forward . Do you think that having teeth in a more forward position could be the cause of lazy speech? Thanks.
I’m Thirteen And Have Stained Teeth, Are Veneers A Possible Solution?
Thursday, May 23rd, 2013I was wondering if people from the age of 13 and under have the ability to get dental veneers or at least something to help stained, ‘odd’ teeth.
I’m a 13 yr old female and I have sincerely hated my teeth since I was 11. It was only until then I noticed how much of a difference they make to your appearance & ever since I’ve been trying every thing to rid of the problems that I have made for myself .
I wish I had taken much more care of my teeth, but I guess I’m unable to do so now.
Any advice & tips would be appreciated, also.
Thank you.
Should I Opt For Veneers Or Just Surgically Alter My Whole Mouth?
Tuesday, May 21st, 2013 Hello,
I was wondering if you could give me some information about fixing my teeth. my upper left and upper right central teeth are quite buck and stick out right. It is getting to the stage where I am ready to do something about it, it’s been something that I’ve put off for a little while so would definitely like it sorting. My teeth are generally quite wonky and I would like to get this fixed by surgery.
Roughly, how much would it cost to get this done? Would you suggest individual veneers for the buck teeth or to get my entire mouth surgically changed?
Thanks very much for your time. I hope to hear back from you soon!
My Veneers Are Too Large, Can They Be Made To Look More Natural?
Tuesday, March 19th, 2013Hi I recently got composite veneers done on 10 of my teeth and am not thrilled with the results, they are not delicate and are way too large for my mouth. My smile appears rather ‘toothy’ and over impactful. I stressed on the importance of natural prior treatment. I am severley disappointed with the results to be hoenst with you, I have thought about taking action but have been advised that there would be no point since I agreed to the treatment etc. It’s just infuriating cosidering the dentist supposedly does it for 80% of Bollywood I figured I was in safe hands but maybe I was a little excited at the prospect of a new smile and didn’t think it through thoroughly enough. I’ve realised his heavy work is only best meant for screen.
Is there anything that can be done?
Thanks
My Front Teeth Are Weakening Slightly, Which Cosmetic Procedure Would Be Best?
Tuesday, March 12th, 2013Dear Dr.,
I’m thirty years old, and my two front teeth show some signs of wear and translucency at the bottom. I’d like to strengthen them and make them a few millimetres longer. This is because I am a little fearful of any negative risks to them in the future. I couldn’t stand it if one of them started to fall out or die! Obviously I understand that this is not really a dental health issue yet so I suppose you could call it an aesthetic issue. If veneers are not the appropriate option for this, could you advise me what would best suit and what the estimated cost might be? It might be that they don’t really need too much work at all but I would like to know what approximations you could make. I assume that any procedure would be done by a cosmetic dentist, and not through the NHS. I live in Cambridge, near one of the Oasys dental centres.
Sincerely, thank you.
