Hello Mark. My Teeth Are Overcrowded. I’ve Been Told It’ll Take 10 Months To Fix. Can It Be Done Any Faster?

October 3rd, 2014
Q.

Hello Mark. My teeth are overcrowded. I would like straighter teeth in as little time as possible.

I have spoken with another dentists and they suggested ceramic or lingual for up to 10 months due to overcrowding. I was wondering if it’s possible to do it in less time, perhaps by filing down spaces between teeth or extractions?

I also have partially erupted wisdom teeth and was considering removing these too. Especially if it would help with straightening my teeth. Thank you!

My Front Teeth Are Longer Than My Lips. What Can I Do About This? I Have No Confidence.

October 3rd, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Gambroudes. My two front teeth are longer than my lips. This makes me open my whole mouth wide just to say a single word. I have little to no confidence or self esteem. My teeth make me look ugly. What can I do about this? I’ve been browsing around and I’ve got some information about veneers, dental bonding and surgery, etc. I am still trying to get a proper advise on what to do. I hope I would get some advice from yourself? Thank you.

What Dental Cosmetic Options Are There Other Than Braces To Close A Gap?

October 2nd, 2014
Q.

Hello Mark. I hope you can help me. I was just wondering if there is any other options for me other than braces? Basically the lateral incisor on the right side of my mouth sticks out, and there is only about a 3 mm gap between the teeth behind it. It also seems to push back the central incisor. I want anything other than metal braces or invisalign. I’d like a quick fix option ideally and I don’t mind having teeth removed etc. What are my options?

Kind regards.

My Oral Health Has Deteriorated and Caused Gap In My Smile. Would Six Month Smiles Orthodontic Treatment Help?

October 2nd, 2014
Q.

Hello,
the reason I e-mailed you today is because I would like to ask you some specific questions regarding the gaps in my teeth.

My teeth were always decent however in recent years (especially the last six years) my oral health deteriorated. The conditions of my teeth were always in my mind but I was too ashamed to visit a dentist (or orthodontic). It has now come to the point where it is affecting my everyday life and I can’t ignore it.

Altogether I have 10 gaps (four upper and six lower), formerly it was seven but the other three developed because I made use of gap teeth elastic bands which have brought no benefits. My largest teeth gap is approximately 0.35 cm large, four of them are 0.2 cm big and the rest are easily fixable.

I had a look through the website and came across ‘6-Month Smiles: orthodontic treatment in six months’ and was wondering if you would recommend me this option. In addition I also wanted to ask you if you were able to give me an estimation of long this procedure may take.

Thank you.

Would You Recommend Using Tooth Gap Bands For Any Of Your Patients? I Need To Fix The Gap In My Smile.

October 2nd, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes. Would you recommend any of your patients to use: Teeth Gap Bands? For closing a gap in the front of someone’s teeth. I seen this website online, and it mentioned a less expensive way to close your gap and I was wondering if you think it would be safe to use.  I’ve read some reviews on their website and I want to try it because I will not be able to afford braces because my insurance doesn’t cover it. I would say my gap is about 2 inches wide and I want to get it closed. Thank you for your time.

Q.

Hi Dr Hughes, Could you help me? I have pain on the left hand side at the back and my teeth ache all the time and hurts to open my mouth wide and to eat. At the back, where the pain is, it looks white as if there is a tooth about to emerge. When closing my mouth it feels like there is something hard in the way. Also my cheek is slightly swollen. I can feel the pain going up to my ear. What could this be? I need something that can take the pain away. Thank you.

My Front Tooth Is Misshapen And The Other One Is The Wrong Colour. Could A Dentist Get Them To Match?

October 1st, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Gambroudes, I could do with your guidance. My front two teeth do not match. One is a misshapen crown and the other has a chip in the tooth. Can you make a crown match a veneer beside it, especially in colour? I would choose porcelain for both and a mac veneer for the veneer. I would also want other teeth beside them have mac veneers also with lower teeth and upper teeth not with veneers whitened. Could they all match? I just want my two front teeth to match in colour and shape as well as an overall matching smile. Thank you in advance.

Hi There Dr Mark. My Self Esteem Is Low As I Have Gaps In My Smile. How Much Would It Cost To Get Them Fixed?

October 1st, 2014
Q.

Hi there Dr Mark,
I’m a 19 year old girl who has a terrible self-esteem because of her teeth. I’m not confident – at all! My front bottom teeth are gapped, which makes it look like I have a missing tooth, and often people think that I’ve lost a tooth. Not only that, but one of my front teeth has tooth discolouration, and I’ve never been confident enough to smile, ever – I don’t think I ever have, to be honest. Anyway, I’m thinking of getting them fixed asap, but I’m wondering about how much – roughly – would it cost me?
Thank you!

I Can’t Bring Myself To Get Into The Habit Of Brushing. Will My Teeth Fall Out Before I’m 21?

September 30th, 2014
Q.

Hi there, I am 18 and I have been going to the dentist for as long as I can remember, when I was 7-10 yearS old I had all of my baby teeth removed due to an addiction to sweets as a child, after that point in time my adult teeth can through. When I as 14 I had to go to the orthodontist to have braces as my teeth were unaligned when they grew through. Ever since I was a young boy I never got into the habit of brushing my teeth, hence having at least 1 filling on each tooth which is what I have now. Even though I myself am very upset and embarrassed about my teeth I still cannot get into the habit of regularly brushing my teeth. I have recently got really bad decay and all of my tooth enamel is gone. I am especially concerned about losing all my teeth by the time I’m 21 and I seriously do not want that to happen. A few factors which need to be set are that I’m also a smoker and I know this will/can cause mouth cancer but I enjoy smoking and am not looking to quit any time soon. Is there any advice you can give me.
