Q. How to get rid of bugs bunny teeth without braces. and how much it wil cost. Please reply . thankyou.,
A. I would strongly recommend for you to have a consultation form a cosmetic dentist to look at your teeth,if you do not have orthodontic treatment the teeth will stil protrude out even if you have comsetic treatment done.

Q. My 12 year old daughter has been refered to an orthodontist for nhs treatment. She has a 10mm overjet, and has to wear a functional appliance to bring her lower jaw forward. However, the appliance she has been given is absolutely hideous and my daughter is absolutely distraught at having to wear it in public. It has a plastic plate that fits into her palate which clips onto the back teeth, with a wire coming round her front teeth. Protruding from the front of the palate from behind her front teeth, is a huge sort of gum shield that comes down to sit on her lower front teeth, to pull her lower jaw forward, that fills up the front of her mouth. My question is therefore is it possible to get a different and more discreet style of appliance that would do the same job? I have seen other types of appliances online, twin blocks etc that look much less obtrusive. The orthodontist is extremely unhelpful and uninformative, when i rang to ask this question, she wouldnt speak to me personally, but through her receptionist informed me that this was the only style that would do the job without explaining why, and that she just had to get on with it and wear it. My daughter is so upset by it all.,
A. There are other appliances but they might not be suitable or available on the NHS. Your best bet might be to get a 2nd opinion from another orthodontist.

Q. hi, well basically i am 25 and unhappy with my teeth. I have an overjet on the top 2 teeth and crowding on the bottom front teeth. I was interested in invalign and have been to see two orthodontists. The first one assured me that my teeth would be perfect at the end of the treatment but the second one put me off slightly as he said that my teeth would be much better than they are now but to get the best result i would have to get a traditional fixed brace…leaving me confused as i dont want the fixed brace but i dont want to pay for
invisalign and not get the desired results. *the second ortho said that there are two teeth on,
A. Not sure what the question is but you have to trust the orthodontist your go with and expect a reasonable result at the end

Q. Hello, Doctor. I have a problem with my two canines. I am thirteen years old and my canines seem to be much further forward than my other teeth. And my left canine is a little higher to my gums compared to the other. Is there any possibility that these would be fixed? I envy my other friends because they have perfect-aligned canines. You’re answer would be a GREAT help for me. Like, thank you so much.,
A. You may need a brace to bring them into align is sounds like your teeth may be a little overcrowded. I would ask your dentist to refer you to an orthodontist for an opinion as there will be a waiting list.

Q. Dear Dr Solanki Over the years, I have had two crowns on my upper left incisor. There isn’t very much of the original tooth left. The tooth is now weak the crown is loose. My dentist thinks the root may have softened over time. The post in the crown is not broken. My concern is about the whole thing coming apart before I can start my treatment in 1 to 2 weeks. What emergency measures can be taken to ensure that I can keep my front tooth? Many thanks.,
A. Just be carefull with eating around that tooth, If the tooth was to come out your dentist could put it back in as a temporary measure untill your next appointment.

Q. I’ll try and keep this short but i have a bad acid erosion problem on my front teeth. In the past 2 years i’ve been recovering from a long suicide, obesity and depression problem and during that time i was hardly ever brushing my teeth. Now my left front tooth and the one next to it have eroaded and i’ve been sticking a bit of cotton wool into it to fill in the unsightly gap, but it’s obvious i’m attempting to cover it and i desperatley need to find something to do to either fill in the gap or cover the teeth. How much would a procedure like this cost in £ and is there a safe and cheap alternative? Thank you for your time,
,
A. The cost varies depending on the treatment you have done. If the tooth is missing then you may need either a bridge, denture or implant. Go to your dentist and ask him to give you all the options and related costs.

Q. Hello, when i was young i had mumps which lead to my teeth not developing correctly, as a result i have horrible patchy yellow-ish marks on my teeth and they are generally in bad condition, i find that my gums often bleed and even eating some foods make my teeth feel as if they are just going to break off. Obviously i want to get them whitened and was wondering how much this would cost? Any other tips would be helpful because i REALLY do not want to have my teeth falling out before i even get to university in september. xx,
A. If your gums bleed then you need to improve your oral hygiene this might also make the teeth look nicer. See a Hygienist first then go for home
tooth whitening using professionally made trays. the Enlighten system works well and costs in the region of £400

Q. I had a front lower bridge fitted two months ago three teeth being extracted and the bridge being fixed to two healthy teeth one side and one healthy tooth the other. The side where the two healthy teeth were involved is fine but the other side feels as if the bridge is digging into my gum, It’s not particularly painful but uncomfortable.,
A. You will have to get your dentist to take a look it should of settled down by now he should be able to adjust the bridge for you.

Q. Dear Dr Solanki i have been looking into cosmetic dentistry for a number of years but have always been put off by the price. Im 29 now and i feel its about time i sorted my teeth out my bottom teeth are fine they seem quite straight and i have not had any problems but my top teeth are not so good i have an overbite with my front 2 teeth and either side of them the teeth go behind my bottom teeth and are set back the rest of my teeth are fine what would be the best course of treatment and what sort of cost am i looking at ? Thanks and regards.
,
A. Thank you for your enquiry. The best treatment would be with braces, there are several different types which we can offer you from invisable braces to fixed braces. Prices start from £1500.00 Please feel free to contact the surgery for a consultation with our orthodontist.

Q. My husband has to have the tooth between his front tooth and canine tooth removed as it cannot be crowned. His dentist said that it can’t be bridged because the gap is too big and recommended a plate, which fills my husband with horror. As he has a healthy tooth either side, why can’t it be bridged? I had one of my front teeth removed and that was bridged very successfully. Would a second opinion be advisable?,
A. Yes i would seek a 2nd oppinion with a cosmetic dentist, the only reason a bridge wouldn’t be advisasble is if he had gaps between his teeth. A dental implant would be an option and then there is no tooth destruction invloved on his other teeth. I am happy to take a look please contact the clinic for a consultaion.

Q. Hi, yesterday I went to get a crown fitted on one of my front teeth. When the dentist first showed it to me the crown was significantly too long. After he’d reduced the length the bottom of the crown was flat and rough. Is this sort of ajustment normally necessary or did the people making the crown make a mistake? He didn’t fix it permenantly to give me time to think about it.,
A. it sometimes happens, wait to see how it settles in and if necessary have a new one made.

Q. Hi. i had 2 veeners fitted to my front teeth last July. In january i broke one of them i had an impression done and a new one fitted but since i experience pain in it sometimes. A week a go it fell off i went to my dentist and she sent it to lab to be etched, she cemented it back today but for some reason without asking me she cemented it to my veener next to it and my normal tooth on the other side, she said it was to make it stronger. im finding it quite diffucult to eat and drink and it pulls when i do to try eat. is there anything you can tell me as to why she would do it or why im experiencing sensitivity and diffuculty eating?,
A. I would go back to your dentist if your experiencing sensitivity, it may not be seating correctly.

Q. Hello, I fell off my bike as a child when my adult teeth were very new and smacked my left front tooth – the root had not finished developing and the tooth subsequently died and discoloured. I had a
root canal and a crown placed on it as an adult but I think my teeth have since moved a bit and it sticks out now at the front and has been borderline wobbly for years. I am wondering whether there is any point in getting braces (for the 3rd time! At 38!) to move a dead root or should I go for an implant or a bridge (am worried there might not be enough room for another tooth the same size as my existing front tooth). Having had all 4
wisdom teeth out in one go and two lots of braces I must admit to not being so fond of dentists so the least painful option is always going to be appreciated! I should also admit that I live on island in the Maldives so I can’t get to the dentist often…. does this rule out braces completely? Apologies for the novel, hope you can point me in the right direction! Thank you for your help,
A. Hello, It sounds like an implant might be your best option as this will probably be the quickest way of creating a straight tooth with a minimum amount of visits. If you live in the maldives you might have to travel to find a good implant dentist though. Regards

Q. recently my bridge got chipped so i went to my nearby dentist and changed the bridge but my real problem and u can say fear is that i have sensitivity in that last lower molar tooth which was filled with silver compund and now it hurts badly even after the replacement shud i go under
root canal as doc prescribed me sensodent – k as i m going next month to my sister place ? what would u advice shud i get it treated now or later as i ve spent already 6000 buck for replacement please advice is needed thank u,
A. It does sound like the nerve is dying in that tooth so
root canal treatment would be your best option. Your other option is ask your dentist to remove the silver filling and place a sedative dressing in the tooth for a couple of weeks to see if it settles down.
