Is There More To My Problem Than Tooth Grinding?

Q.
I have had severe pain, like neuralgia, in my upper teeth and jaw for a while. The dentist says all X-rays are normal. There is no decay and no seen cracks. My pain is worsening. She said because it is both sides, I am grinding my teeth without realizing and need a mouth guard. I am quite skeptical about this and seek a second opinion.I am in pain all the time and frustrated when told there is nothing wrong with my teeth.

Hi, thanks for getting in touch. Neuralgic pain is often caused by tooth grinding or clenching, so this might be a possibility. If you’re not sure, maybe seek out a 2nd opinion/consultation or ask your dentist for a referral to a facial pain clinic? Kind regards, Andrew.
