Veneer seems damaged and keeps coming off

Friday, April 3rd, 2009
Q.
I broke my two front teeth when I was 12. It was a fairly clean break straight across and I lived with it until age 22. During my first pregnancy my dentist recommended veneers as my treatment would be free. While preparing my teeth for the veneers something went wrong and my left front tooth broke up and I had to have a crown fitted instead. A week after my veneer was applied a large piece came away and was repaired with regular white filling. I am now age 41. My veneer keeps breaking and being fixed with filling, it is terribly stained around the gum and along the edge. I has been fixed so many times it resembles crazy paving. My crown is discoloured. After the last time my dentist fixed my veneer with filling she told me that I could never bite on it again. There are my front teeth how can I not bite on them? I asked for them to be replaced but was refused this on the national health. I am a single parent on very low income, is there anything I can do? I was encouraged to have this work done on the national health and feel worse off than if I had simply left my teeth alone. Also I live in West Wales and am considered lucky to even have a dentist.

Hello Doctor. I have a discoloured tooth (to the right of my two main teeth). The discolouration is under the enamel therefore no amount of polishing or prophyflex will help. Would a veneer be my only option, if so would you recommend a porcelain or lumineer veneer? Many thanks in advance,

My two central incisors are chipped on the frontal side

Q.
Hello :)I’m not too sure how this happened, but my two central incisors are chipped on the frontal side. The dentin is actually showing through on one. There are deep lines on those teeth – best way to describe it. It’s painful and sensitive. I’ve been told to get veneers(too expensive for me), but I was wondering if it would be possible to put a composite material on it and polish. Do you have any suggestions. I’m in dental school right now, so hopefully once I get in an office maybe veneers could be an option.Right now, it’s not resonalbe for me though.

My teeth next to my front teeth are sticking out and I was wondering is vaneer would work for me, and what would the cost be approx for vaneers?

Hello, my teeth next to my front teeth are sticking out and I was wondering is vaneer would work for me, and what would the cost be approx for vaneers? And is there a chance it may mess things up even more? I can afford braces too but if vaneer works then that would be great, it also look someone like my front teeth are back a little and could be causing the ones next to it to look someone like they are coming out too far. I was just wondering if they would fix my problem?

Is it worth damaging my tooth for a veneer baring in mind my tooth is a dark grey and ever so slightly pushed back in comparison to its adjacent front tooth due to it being nocked back?

Friday, April 3rd, 2009
Q.
Two years ago in a footballing accident i had one of my teeth nocked and it died, resulting in it becoming discoloured (grey). I have tried bleaching, however, this hasn’t had my desired affect and it is still very clear that my tooth is dead, a veneer is the other option but I am weary of this choice as i realise this damages the tooth permanently. My friend had a similar problem and got a vanneer, however, in my opinion it was extremely clear she had a veneer but I have seen pictures of successfull ones, is it worth damaging my tooth for a veneer baring in mind my tooth is a dark grey and ever so slightly pushed back in comparison to its adjacent front tooth due to it being nocked back? Thanks,
