Veneer seems damaged and keeps coming off

Q. I broke my two front teeth when I was 12. It was a fairly clean break straight across and I lived with it until age 22. During my first pregnancy my dentist recommended veneers as my treatment would be free. While preparing my teeth for the veneers something went wrong and my left front tooth broke up and I had to have a crown fitted instead. A week after my veneer was applied a large piece came away and was repaired with regular white filling. I am now age 41. My veneer keeps breaking and being fixed with filling, it is terribly stained around the gum and along the edge. I has been fixed so many times it resembles crazy paving. My crown is discoloured. After the last time my dentist fixed my veneer with filling she told me that I could never bite on it again. There are my front teeth how can I not bite on them? I asked for them to be replaced but was refused this on the national health. I am a single parent on very low income, is there anything I can do? I was encouraged to have this work done on the national health and feel worse off than if I had simply left my teeth alone. Also I live in West Wales and am considered lucky to even have a dentist.

A. It is a difficult situation I would ask your dentist to see what options he could provide as since the veneer sounds damaged and keeps coming off it sounds like it needs to be replaced if she can not ask her to refer you to your nearest dental hospital.
