How much would it cost for tooth whitening and leveling?

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009
Q.
Hi, my teeth are pretty much straight but different lengths. I want to get them whitened but also want them level (its like they need filing across), is this an easy procedure and roughly how much would a dentist charge. Thanks

Can u please advice and clear my concerns on my veneer fitting?

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009
Q.
Hello Dr. Caplan, I’m writing because i’m worried about my forthcoming NHS veneer fitting next week. On Thursday I had 3 teeth ‘prepped’ for the veneers. When I have read up on the Internet it says that the tooth preparation only involves taking a small amount from the tooth, equivalent to the thickness of the veneer, byt my dentist has shaved the teeth right down to little pegs. He has then temporarily built them up with composite until my treatment has complete. Is this not standard practice? I’m terrified about what the results are going to be. The composite has left my teeth all different shapes and sizes and is unsightly, although i know this is just temporary. The teeth being worked on are my front two, and the one to the right of them. This one was a healthy tooth but was not growing downwards, it was growing slightly outwards and at an angle towards my front tooth. The front two were damaged from enamel erosion and were very short, stained and ridged. He has not asked me how I would like them to look and I am very worried that he has shaved them down when the information I have read online seems to suggest this is not the process for veneers. Please help.

Can i know the benefits and problems of veneers and crowns?

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009
Q.
I am considering getting my four front teeth either crowned or have veneer on them. I would like to know the benefits and/or problems with both of these. I have had crowns before and never had a problem, but I understand that veneers are a bit more pricey and painful. Are they both comparable when it comes to wear, etc?

Can u advice on how to get the teeth replaced and its cost and time?

Monday, August 31st, 2009
Q.
Hi. For some time i have been embarrassed by 6 bottom teeth and 6 top teeth, I would really like to have these 12 teeth taken out and replaced if possible with 12 new white and perfectly straight veneers. My question is how much would this treatment cost? My other question is the estimated time this treatment would take? As I am currently at college and cannot afford to miss to much time out on my education is there any chance that this treatment would be able to be done quite quickly or the overall time limit reduced. Really appreciate the help/advice. Many thanks.

Is there a possibility of getting veneers done at NHS?

Saturday, August 29th, 2009
Q.
Hi. My teeth are badly eroded and they have started to crack. I hate smiling and getting pictures taken. I was wondering if it was possible to get venirs on the Nhs. It would make me so much happier and more confident.

Are the veneers secure enough once they are fitted?

Tuesday, August 25th, 2009
Q.
Hi Dr Caplan, I hope this doesnt seem like a daft question but Im really worried and would appreciate your opinion. Basically I have had veneers fitted recently and I’m not very happy with the outcome aesthtically, as they are quite uneven and dont sit straight as in the temps. Besides this however, the main problem is that they dont feel very secure, particularly the very front ones. I am aware of a clicking sensation after ive cleaned my teeth or had something to eat, which feels like the veneers are slightly moving in and out of place. It is a very strange sensation and every time it happens I am very anxious in case they fall out! I have been back to the dentist and he has checked them and said everything is fine.. however I go on holiday soon for 2 weeks and Im terrified of any of these veneers falling out when Im out of the country. Is there any way to make them feel more secure or is it a case of just living with it? Many thanks for your time

Best option for tooth grinding problem

Sunday, August 23rd, 2009
Q.
Hi I have a tooth grinding problem which has cracked a bottom tooth. My dentist has repaired this twice with a small filling but it keeps coming off. I went to my practice last week (met a new dentist) who suggested having a veneer which was ‘really tough’ and would not come off. I was quoted £700. However, my previous dentist said a veneer would not hold and he wouldn’t sell me one, he suggested a night guard £400, but I am not convinced I ‘grind’ at night I think it is when I chew food. My dentist raised the height of a rear filling to stop me grinding and now I am having trouble chewing food. I therefore have three expensive options (veneer, night guard or constant fillings) and have no idea what to opt for. Can anyone help? Regards
