Tuesday, August 25th, 2009
Q.
Dear Dr How valid the calim of this tech” CEREC 3D CAD scanner” versus lab work interm of accuracy. I know the time is 1/600HR waiting ,but is it true NO micro annulas due to accurate dimintion of the tooth. 2-Is the ceramic filling more advance relaible, durable than the composit filling if the ceramic price is 10 times more.Do you advise patients to use it? Thanks

Best option for tooth grinding problem

Sunday, August 23rd, 2009
Q.
Hi I have a tooth grinding problem which has cracked a bottom tooth. My dentist has repaired this twice with a small filling but it keeps coming off. I went to my practice last week (met a new dentist) who suggested having a veneer which was ‘really tough’ and would not come off. I was quoted £700. However, my previous dentist said a veneer would not hold and he wouldn’t sell me one, he suggested a night guard £400, but I am not convinced I ‘grind’ at night I think it is when I chew food. My dentist raised the height of a rear filling to stop me grinding and now I am having trouble chewing food. I therefore have three expensive options (veneer, night guard or constant fillings) and have no idea what to opt for. Can anyone help? Regards

Would it be possible just to have the tooth filled instead of root canal treatment

Thursday, August 13th, 2009
Q.
My dentist(locum)has suggested root canal treatment and a crown. I have a temporary filling. As a pensioner I am worried about the cost, but would prefer not to lose the tooth. Would it be possible just to have the tooth filled?

Ive a root canal done on my molar and the dentist prefers temporary crowns advice?

Saturday, August 1st, 2009
Q.
Hello, I have had a root canal done to my second molar. My dentist has suggested that I best have a temporary crown fitted, as my tooth is very vulnerable. The reason for him to say this is because:- A) last week I had my tooth quarterly spilt, which he managed to extract and fill it up. B) this is what i dont understand, he says that the tooth above my second molar is sharp ( along those lines) and is not doing any favours to my second molar. C) if i decide to remove my tooth, there is a possiblity that my molar will eventually get loose and i might loose it. I havent had my wisdom tooth come out as yet. What’s a temporary filling? I personally find all this a hassle now, It’s so frustrating, can’t I just remove it!

There was a hole beginning in one of my lower teeth should ive fillings?

Thursday, July 30th, 2009
Q.
Two years ago my dentist told me there was a hole beginning to form in one of my lower teeth (approx 4th from the back. I asked him what could be done, and he said “Nothing – we wait until it gives trouble and take it out.” This was my first visit to this dentist (my previous dentist having died)and I was uneasy about the answer. On my last vist, I asked whether it could be filled, but he said no, and gave a technical explanantion which made no sense to me, as a layman. Can I seek a second opinion with a dentist in another practice? Many thanks

My filling in my front tooth is causing me extreme pain and i cant eat anything what do i do

Tuesday, July 21st, 2009
Q.
Five days ago I had two fillings in the back which don’t hurt but one i had in my front tooth is causing me extreme pain in not just that tooth but all of the others, I also had a scrape and polish so I thought they would be sore but not to this extreme, I can’t eat or drink anything especially anything cold, but I can’t afford to pay for more treatment if something has gone wrong. I’m worried in case its really serious.
