Q. I have very bad teeth which i get a lot of pain from i have phobia,s of dentists and needles this problem is starting to affect my every day life please inform me whether i can go to a hospital have my teeth removed altogether and a set of screw in pallets made is this possible thanks

A. It is possible to have your teeth removed and implants placed although you will still need to see a dentist regularly for maintainance of the new teeth. You may need to find a dental clinic that provides sedation so it can be carried out in a dental practice rather than hospital to make the treatment more affordable and easier to arrange.

Hi there, I have a phobia for needles. My teeth are not straight and have some holes, couple need to be taken out. I went to leeds to get a quote and it was 8000 pounds which i cannot afford. Could you please tell me the prices of sedation and fixing teeth and the implants/veniers. I really want to smile again and just be happy.

I would like to find out more regarding sedation surgery concerning full set teeth implants or false teeth. I have a huge fear of dentists and am at astage where my teeth are loose probably due to smoking and I suspect I shall start losing many soon. I look forward to hearing from you

I had a really bad experience with my dentist around 11 years ago and, muchto my huge embarrassment, have not been to a dentist since. I am now at the stage where I am too frightened to go due to the embarrassment that I feel when I think about how much work I will need done. I know for a fact I have at least 4 teeth which will now need removed and no doubt other stuff I’m unaware of. It is ridiculous to admit that a grown woman can feel so intimidated but the thought of being lectured by a dentist about letting my teeth go like that stops me making that all important appointment. Can you offer any advice?

Good morning, I found your website via the BDA findadentist site. I have severe dental phobia and gag reflex compounded by Bells palsy which means I cannot open my mouth on one side. Consequently I have avoided the dentist for many years. I understand you offer sedation dentistry which I feel is theonly way forward for me. Would it be possible to visit your surgery to discuss sedation treatment?

Yes you could have IV sedation. The best option in the sedation menu for this is relative analgesia , or gas and air as its known ( nitrous as Ozzy Osbourne called it when having his teeth cleaned with it !)It suppresses the gag reflex . other options are diazepam tablets , plus a sensitive dentist or hygienist who may clean by hand rather than the ultrasonic with lots of water . An efficient dental nurse who doesn’t put the suction tip too far back , and allowing you to swallow regularly , and make use of hand stop signals

Ga isn’t available in general practice but you could consider finding a dentist who offers inhalation sedation to help you relax during simple treatment
