Tooth still aches after being treated and crowned again

Sunday, March 29th, 2009
Q.
I recently went to the dentist with toothache on both sides of my mouth. I was informed on either side I have decay below fillings. My dentist removed one filling on either upper side of my mouth, put some “medicine” in and temporarily filled them. I now have a crown on the left side with the right side due to be fitted in march. The crown was only fitted last week and already I have the same pain as before. Whilst the temporary filling was in I had no pain whatsoever. is this just wilst the tooth settles or is the crown sitting wrong? I am in agony and dentist away until monday? Help?

Sunday, March 29th, 2009
Q.
I recently broke half of my back upper tooth off by biting into a subway sandwich that had an olive pit in it. since then i have been having severe pain in my tooth. And getting really bad headaches. I dont have an income right now so it would be really hard to go see a dentist. could i get an infection from this? Is it life threatning if its not taken care of soon?

flap connecting upper lip and gum hurts

Saturday, March 28th, 2009
Q.
I have a little girl who is almost 5. She is complaining of her “teeth hurting” but points to the flap of skin directly above her two front teeth. It is the “flap” that connects from under the top lip to the top gum line above the teeth. Hers is very long and is obviously beginning to bother her. Is this something that a regular dentist can handle? How is this corrected/treated? Thank you!

I feel the pressure of the weight of the mouthpiece from playing saxophone

Saturday, March 28th, 2009
Q.
Dear Dr. Tennet, My lower two front lower teeth are not perfectly straight, which does not trouble me particularly. However being a saxophone player after playing session the weight of the mouthpiece on my two front lower teeth feel uncomfortable for a while, and more importantly I feel that the pressure of saxophone mouthpiece would make them worse. So I was wondering if I could have a successful treatment while while still practicing few hour every day of saxophone, which means few hours of pressure on the teeth. And my second questions was that would my teeth go back to the way they were few years after the treatment is done considering that I still would be putting pressure on them when playing saxophone. I eagerly await your response, Thank you

Still in pain after implants

Friday, March 27th, 2009
Q.
Hi, I had the first stages of my tooth implant done on Friday afternoon and its now Monday. I have to go back in 3-4 months to have the last stages of this complete, which is the tooth implant fitted. Its my front right tooth on my lower jaw. My titanium screw went in ok and my dentist took a x-ray of it on his very expensive new digital gadget x-ray thing?? He has been doing implants for a long time and had been reserching it for 24 years or so and seems very specialized in tooth implants. I trust him and his work and he has been fantastic in explaining the procedure to me and covered all my options before I had the implant done. He was very happy with the x-ray and he sat me down to have a look at it afterwards, he showed me that the titanium implant was very central so as not to close to the teeth either side and that he was very pleased with it. He gave me a prescription of Amoxil (as I had a family meal and drinks planned for the weekend and wanted to be able to have a drink). I have been taking these all weekend following the directions of what I had been told, I have also been doing the bolied salt water solutions to keep the area clean. I am just a little concerned as I am still in quite allot of pain, I have a terrible ache in my lower jaw, the skin around the implant is very sore…….could this be due to the stitches being to tight?? I wanted to just ask if this is normal to still be in pain after 3 days? I have been taking Cuprofen (Ibuprofen 200mg)2 every 4 hours or so but I keep waking up in the early hours really wishing I could take more as the ache is very consistant. Last night I took 1 paracetomol, I had a quick look on the internet to see if it was safe to do so and most reviews said yes but not to make a habbit of it. I have never been into taking any paracetomol as hate relying on drugs but I am very sore and cant get on with my day at all. Would you kindly be able to advise me if this is normal in the healing process or should I be worried about any nerve damage or infection??? I dont have any numbness or tingling at all but just very sore! Again, its the nerve damage and infection I am really concerned about. I have to say my dentist didnt mention anything about the nerves and was very happy with my x-rays? Kind regards.
