I feel the pressure of the weight of the mouthpiece from playing saxophone

Q. Dear Dr. Tennet, My lower two front lower teeth are not perfectly straight, which does not trouble me particularly. However being a saxophone player after playing session the weight of the mouthpiece on my two front lower teeth feel uncomfortable for a while, and more importantly I feel that the pressure of saxophone mouthpiece would make them worse. So I was wondering if I could have a successful treatment while while still practicing few hour every day of saxophone, which means few hours of pressure on the teeth. And my second questions was that would my teeth go back to the way they were few years after the treatment is done considering that I still would be putting pressure on them when playing saxophone. I eagerly await your response, Thank you

A. Two hours a day with an orthodontic appliance would struggle to provide a significant effect. I wonder whether your saxaphone tecnique needs to be modified to take less pressure on the teeth. I am no expert on the occupational dental problems on saxaphone playing, those saxophone, wind, brass playing patients I do know do not have so pronounced a problem. It does cause some concern and I would want to investigate further before giving a recommendation.
A 15 minute initial consultation is free at StJohns Birmingham if you would like me to come up with some of the more likely treatment options.
