My husband has recently (a week ago) had a crown on a rear back tooth.he is having a lot of pain from hot/cold food & drinks & cannot eat comfortably on it. He will not let me ring the dentist to go back as he thinks the only option would be to have it removed & start again. Is this what you think is the only option

Wednesday, November 5th, 2008
Q.
I recently had two small fillings behind my front tooth, after the injection wore off my teeth where extemely sensitive, then it stopped. For nearly a week now iv had tooth ache, but the pain has changed now though its continuous and my top teeth (next to the tooth I had filled) feel loose could this be due to the work I had done?

I woud like to know how much discomfort to expect after veneers are fitted

Wednesday, November 5th, 2008
Q.
I woud like to know how much discomfort to expect after veneers are fitted. I had 6 veneers fitted three weeks ago and have had to take strong painkillers night and day ever since. This is not sensitivity but a throbbing pain which barely leaves me for any length of time. I stay almost 70 miles away from my dentist but saw him today. He says this is normal and usually takes anything from 2 to 8 weeks for everything to settle down. Is this truly the case? If I had known this was going to happen I would never have had it done. Please reply. Thank you for your time.

I broke my tooth at 13

Wednesday, November 5th, 2008
Q.
I broke my tooth, #13 and my dentist said it would be best to have do a bridge. He explained that he would shave the tooth behind it down and make a bridge. Ironic, I found out that a bridge consists of total 3 teeth, one behind and one in front of missing tooth. Found out a little too late. He shaved the back tooth down…I kept going back and forth since I was having problems w/the bit and jaw sliding. Plus, I was in pain. He told me that I had to get a root canal on the tooth they just shaved. After that…I told him that I wanted to do the implant. I’m scheduled to meet w/the oral surgeon tomorrow, 9/16. I told my dentist that I now want 2 seperate crowns…the one they did the root canal on and the other where I will have the implant. He advised me not to have 2 seperate ones because if the implant gets loose…there is nothing to hold it. I don’t know what to believe as I already destroyed a good tooth. Would it wrong to have 2 seperate crowns then having them together? I feel them being seperate, I would have a better chance of them lining up correctly and that my bit is not off and my bottom jaw not sliding. Thank you.

My wife has just returned from a visit to her dentists

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008
Q.
My wife has just returned from a visit to her dentists. She went there with a painful tooth. She has been charged £805 for a glass ion filling, PJC and RCT posterior, firstly is this a reasonable price for the treatment? Secondly, she was given no advice as to what options she had for treatment and not told what costs to expect, until after the initial work was done. Are there any guidelines, laid down by professional bodies, which dentists are supposed to follow in cases like this, and where is the best place to complain to about unprofessional conduct and/or breach of guidelines?

Sunday, November 2nd, 2008
Q.
Hi, I am a 49 year old smoker who now lives in France, however I am about to be back in the UK for a month, my front teeth seem to be spreading apart from the 2nd ant both sides (not the centre) is there any way I can get them put back together or the gaps filled as it is now becomming quite unsightly and looks like I have a tooth loss either side of the front two, my teeth are straight otherwise.

I have a very large dog who ran into my front tooth

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008
Q.
Hi, I have a very large dog who ran into my front tooth a couple of years ago. Since then I have suffered pain that runs up towards my nose. Over the last couple of months the pain has subsided and the tooth is now turning a grey colour. I think it might be ‘dead’ I am absolutely terrified of the dentist and am not registered to one. What treatments are available and what do I need to do? Help- I have very nice teeth apart from this and am terrified to go and see anyone!
