Still in pain after implants

Q. Hi, I had the first stages of my tooth implant done on Friday afternoon and its now Monday. I have to go back in 3-4 months to have the last stages of this complete, which is the tooth implant fitted. Its my front right tooth on my lower jaw. My titanium screw went in ok and my dentist took a x-ray of it on his very expensive new digital gadget x-ray thing?? He has been doing implants for a long time and had been reserching it for 24 years or so and seems very specialized in tooth implants. I trust him and his work and he has been fantastic in explaining the procedure to me and covered all my options before I had the implant done. He was very happy with the x-ray and he sat me down to have a look at it afterwards, he showed me that the titanium implant was very central so as not to close to the teeth either side and that he was very pleased with it. He gave me a prescription of Amoxil (as I had a family meal and drinks planned for the weekend and wanted to be able to have a drink). I have been taking these all weekend following the directions of what I had been told, I have also been doing the bolied salt water solutions to keep the area clean. I am just a little concerned as I am still in quite allot of pain, I have a terrible ache in my lower jaw, the skin around the implant is very sore…….could this be due to the stitches being to tight?? I wanted to just ask if this is normal to still be in pain after 3 days? I have been taking Cuprofen (Ibuprofen 200mg)2 every 4 hours or so but I keep waking up in the early hours really wishing I could take more as the ache is very consistant. Last night I took 1 paracetomol, I had a quick look on the internet to see if it was safe to do so and most reviews said yes but not to make a habbit of it. I have never been into taking any paracetomol as hate relying on drugs but I am very sore and cant get on with my day at all. Would you kindly be able to advise me if this is normal in the healing process or should I be worried about any nerve damage or infection??? I dont have any numbness or tingling at all but just very sore! Again, its the nerve damage and infection I am really concerned about. I have to say my dentist didnt mention anything about the nerves and was very happy with my x-rays? Kind regards.

A. I would  recommend you contact the dentist who placed the implant and to book for a review appointment. I am sure he/she would be more than happy to examine you and answer any of your questions.
