I keep experiencing a sharp pain in my second molar

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009
Q.
I keep experiencing a sharp pain in my second molar whenever I jump, walk briskly or shake my head from side. The pain is not noticable when I’m still or if I don’t make any sudden movements – nor does the pain last long when I feel it. What could be the cause? I’ve had a cold for the last week, could this have anything to do with the ache that I’ve only recently be suffering?

A.
Probably sinusitis

Friday, December 11th, 2009
Q.
Hi. My teeth are corroded and have turned brown because of this. There are few small patches of enamel. Can I use some kind of medicine or like colgate 360 sensitive to replenish my enamel or must I go for a dental operation? How can my enamel be replenished? Thanks

Can you suggest a dentist to address my TMJ disorder.

Friday, December 11th, 2009
Q.
Hi How widely accepted is TMJ in field of dentistry.I have classic symptoms of this (am a tooth clencher, jaw out of line to the touch, noise in ears when i open my mouth, ear pain) but cant get anyone to take me seriously enough. Also, do sensitive teeth/anaesthetic cause parasthesia in face as ive had sensations in side of face where a filling was replaced (large filling, from amalgam to composite). Thanks

I feel I am stuck with unprogressive dental treatment.

Monday, December 7th, 2009
Q.
Hi. I have recently broken some enamel from the back of one of my front lower teeth. I have now visited mt dentist 5 times and am back to square one. First he did a filling on the back, and the day after I had to go back as there was a very sharp edge. 1 week later im back again as it had come off. I saw a different dentist at the practice as my own was busy, who replaced the filling . 2 days later, it came away yet again. I then go back for the 4th time and the dentist decided to put a sealant on the tooth to stop the sensitivity as obviously a filling it was not working. A couple of days later, this too came off. Back I go for the 5th time. Now, the dentist did explain that these were awkward to do at the very begining, but im now back to the start postion again, with the dentist saying there is nothing more he can do, so just smoothed it down as best he could. But it still drives me crazy as my tongue keeps catching it and there is some slight sensitivity. And of course ive wasted £65. The dentists are all English, and it is an NHS dentist. And they are all extremely nice people too !!! Should I try a private dentist ? Or am i stuck with it forever ? help !

My front teeth has become extremely sensitive

Thursday, November 5th, 2009
Q.
Hi, A few days ago while I was eating I suddenly bit down on a piece of bone with my front teeth. Since then the left front tooth has become extremely sensitive. I think it is cracked but not exactly sure as I can’t see any crack but can feel a slight uneveness at the tip. It is so painful that I find it difficult talking as the cold air makes it hurt. Any ideas as to how to stop this? Please help!

Can you tell me what quality the nhs crown will be & what it is mad of? and do i have a choice ? I ask this because i have a heart condition “AF” [Atrial Fribulation] & i have been told that metal in the mouth such as lead or amalgom can cause this AF that i have. What nhs crown do you suggest i have fitted ?

Need extensive makeover to my teeth

Saturday, October 31st, 2009
Q.
I’m 22 and my teeth are awful! I’m embarassed to smile, laugh and often get told to ‘cheer up’ because of my regular closed mouth expression. My teeth are discoloured, sensitive, and crooked. This is due to lack of dental care when I was a child. I regularly use whitening products, and sensitive toothpastes, I visit the dentist but just seem to have filling upon filling. I’m so scared of one of my front teeth completely falling out. I honestly feel like I would be happier with false teeth, which is a bit of a daunting prospect at the age of 22. Being a student, I cant afford cosmetic dentisty and even the financial plas seem to want £100+ a month, which just isnt an option for me. I don’t seem to have a local dentistry school, and even ones far away seem to have full waiting lists. I’ve considered using a student loan to go abroad to have ‘cheap’ dentistry work done but hav been advised this could make things even worse. What should I do?
