teeth whitening kit has given me sensitive teeth

Friday, August 15th, 2008
Q.
I bought a tooth whitening kit from a private dental surgery and explained that I had very sensitive teeth beforehand. He checked my teeth and said they would be fine and that I should purchase Tooth mousse. I used it once and haven’t been able to use it again as I was in agony. No amount of sensitive toothpaste helped. I really want them whitening but can’t suffer that for 2 weeks. My own dentist tells me that due to prolonged smoking, I have a mild case of gum recession and possibly my nerves may be exposed. How can I whiten them without the pain? I bought daywhite. 2hours was too long and it should have been on longer. Help, I have stopped smiling because of the colour of my teeth, although my dentist says they are still very healthy.

Q.
I am having nerve pain in one of my front teeth. An x ray revelled that my bone denstity is very low causing air pockets therefore pain. I was recommeneded extraction with a denture or implant. I am not sure what would be best. If my bone loss continues I am considering partial dentures but scared of looking older due to having not many teeth. Can you advise?

does veneers cause tooth sensitivity

Thursday, August 7th, 2008
Q.
I have recently had 6 veneers fitted to my front teeth, however my teeth now feel very sensitive to air and hot / cold food / drink. Will this last? The preparation did involve shaving my teeth down, would this be why? Also is there anything I can do to help the sensitivity?

I have sensitive teeth and need a gentle dentist

Sunday, July 6th, 2008
Q.
I am not the best dental patient though have always attended (with great anxiety), and when i need treatment have always needed quite alot of local anaesthetic before I am pain free. I also have sensitive teeth when brushing which appears to be due to some small ridges at the top of my teeth (about 4 teeth) near my gums.(too sensitive for dental hygeine so lot of personal time to keep clean). I would love to have both straighter and whiter teeth though did not know if this would be possible with sensitive teeth and whether this could be remedied. (I would also need a very patient and gentle dentist!)

Will lumineers help my sensitive teeth

Tuesday, July 1st, 2008
Q.
I have got sensitive teeth. If i would get lumineers it would be a kind of protection? Because now I need to go at least every half year to the dental hygiene to get ride of the stains and after that the teeth are more sensitive. I think the stains are getting worse after each treatment. My problems are the stains which come shortly again after the treatment. What about lumineers? Is it possible to make lumineers also on the inner side of the teeth?
