Hello. I am a 68 year old lady. My crown broke off next to my front teeth so the dentist did my front tooth with two side back teeth which she said would hold in better. Should the plate come half way down my teeth? My bite hits the plate and seems to push the bottom jaw to the side. It doesn’t feel right, it’s putting pressure on my front teeth wich are crowns too. I am really worried and don’t like wearing them. They cost me 290 pounds so what can I do? Thanks for your time.

My Plate Doesn’t Feel Right, What Should I Do?
Tuesday, February 10th, 2015I Love The Way My New Plate Looks, But It’s Given Me A Lisp. Can They Change It’s Shape?
Friday, August 30th, 2013Hello, I want to tell you that I had top replacement plate made because my first plate was nine years old and I thought it was time to get a second one in case something happened to the only plate I had. Well, the new plate looks beautiful, but I now have a lisp. To me it seems like the palate is too deep on this plate. It is much deeper on this plate than on my other one. Do you know if they can alter the plate somehow? Is this a question a lot of people ask? I really do love the way my new plate looks, I just hate the lisp that it has given me. They advised that I try it and see if it goes away. What do they do to try and resolve this?
Any help you can give me is much appreciated.
Thank you.
How much will two implants cost overall?
Tuesday, January 11th, 2011 Hi,
Unfortunately, over the weekend I managed to knock out my two (top) front teeth. To further complicate matters I am currently working on a rotational basis on Sakhalin Island, Russia. I have seen a dentist here who has said that they can do implants but I would prefer to have them ‘installed’ in the UK, assuming that is what is required.
Can you give me an idea of the timescale that is required to have the implants installed? I am back in the UK between 13th – 25th October , I assume this is not enough time to have implants installed? If not, if I get the initial treatment conducted in October do you think I would be able to get the final implants ‘installed’ in late December when I return after my next rotation?
The dentist here has recommended a ‘plate’ in the mean time to help with my speech and for aesthetics reasons? Is there anything else I should be worried about? I have heard that issues can arise with the teeth left moving and that they should be kept apart to maintain room.
Can you give a rough estimate on cost (assuming there are no complications, i.e. bone grafts) for the installation of two implants?
Thanks for your time.

Would you recommend a metal plate for longer term use?
Friday, December 3rd, 2010I have been advised by my dentist that I need to have 3 teeth extracted because of root problems. It may be that a 4th tooth could also be extracted. I already have ab acrylic plate for 1 tooth which needs daily fixing. I am told that I can have a metal based plate or stick to acrylic plate. I understand the metal plate is stronger but more difficult to add teeth and hence the rationale for taking out the extra tooth. Is the metal plate more likely to stay in place. I understand there is a significant price difference. What would you recommend
How long will it take to get used to my new bridge?
Wednesday, November 24th, 2010 Hello Doc.
Last week I had some bridge work done to replace a 2-tooth lower plate, which I’ve lived with for over 20 years, but which was becoming irritating and ill-fitting. The bridge looks fantastic, but feels very unwelcome in my mouth and I’m starting to panic that I’ve made the wrong decision by having this work done. All I can feel in my mouth is this bridge; eating has become a depressing affair, since the bridge feels like its dominating my taste buds. Will this discomfort subside? How long should I wait before deciding to have the thing removed? Please help!
At least 3-6 months

Can I have a bridge fitted for a crowned tooth that has a hair line fracture?
Wednesday, November 24th, 2010I have a crown on my right canine tooth, the root has an airline fracture,i have been to a private dentist who has taken several x rays and impressions,i was expecting him to say i could have a bridge, but he has said the root should be surgically removed. I also have 3 other crowns the left canine being one of them and the same has been suggested for this the root is not damaged on the left side.A plate with false teeth, I am in a state of shock there is no way I could tolerate a plate.Should I get a second opinion?.
Can you suggest a treatment that can move my teeth back into place as quickly as possible?
Monday, September 6th, 2010Hi Dr Solanki, I am getting married in November and I had braces approx 4 years ago, but after having specifically requested from my dentist a wire to be attached to the back of my teeth, my dentist refused and told me a retainer was much more effective. Unfortunately I did not wear my retainer as I should have as I was in a customer facing job so my teeth have moved slightly – and mainly the front 2 which is really bothering me. I am wondering if there is any way of having a plate or similiar constructed to push the teeth back into place, it really is quite minor as when I put my retainer back it only has about 3mm gap from stopping it clicking back into place. Can you please suggest any methods that would assist before November other than veneers? Many thanks,
