My dentist says I can only have a temporary bridge if I pay for a permanent one too! What should I do?

Friday, September 3rd, 2010
Q.
im 27 and had to have my front tooth removed! my dentist made me a plate that does not fit my mouth and is making me physically sick, as i had to use fixodent to keep it in, so i can not wear it. but refuses to fit me with a temporary bridge. i am exempt from paying but even offered to pay for temp bridge and he replied that he is not doing it unless i then pay for permanent bridge also! so i am left with no front tooth!,

Hi,am 36 and have just had 10 bits taken out of my mouth, they weren’t all full teeth due to some of them breaking. I had IV sedation beacause am a very nervous patient at the dentist, so my own dentist referred me to a specialist dentist. My own dentist said the best option for me is to have a plate fitted,am just wondering how long i will have to wait until i have my plate fitted and will it hurt? I had my dental surgery 3 weeks last thursday.,

There are problems with my dental bridge, what can I do?

Friday, June 18th, 2010
Q.
I had a bridge 30 yrs ago and recently the right hand post (left if looking at me) was found to not be supporting anything. My dentist sawed it off the other two teeth (the ‘floating tooth’ and the left hand supporting tooth). I was then fitted with a single tooth on a plate that has metal spokes like paper clips that wrap round my back top molars. I have, I admit, only had this just over a week but have found eating and public speaking both to be problematic. The plate adds to dryness in my mouth and makes me ‘lisp’ and also moves slightly when i talk. It also hurts if io try to bite down on something even as soft as a ‘wrap’ sandwich with soft filling. I’m 53 and looking for an alternative to this but am an NHS patient. What do you think would be better for me?,

What are the options for a very uncomfortable plate?

Thursday, April 29th, 2010
Q.
I was given a general anaesthetic recently and during the pipe being put into or taken out of my throat, two of my teeth were knocked out. The following day, the dental clinic at the hospital removed an exposed nerve. The following week they done impressions, removed the remaining parts of the teeth and gave me a plate. I really can not get on with the plate and find it very uncomfortable. I would like to know what options I have now.,
