Q.
i have had gum disease for 15 years and had extensive treatments at bristol dental hospital.i have been trouble free for years now but have lost a significant amount of gum tissue.i was scared to smile for years. at the end of my treatment they made me a cosmetic gum shield that fits in my mouth and hides my gum loss.it works quite well and gave me back some confidence but i am always aware it is noticeable. can anything be done to for me?my teeth are ok but need whitening. i would love to have a proper smile again.can you help? no site ever mentions any help for gum loss.,

I need a successful treatment for my receding gum problem?

Thursday, December 10th, 2009
Q.
I have had receding gums in the past (hereditary), which are fine now. As s result though my top two teeth at the front have small black “triangles” that are fairly visible. I have been told about gum grafts. Would this work to cover the triangles and what is the success rate? Thank you

Need to fix my bite and get gum graft, please suggest.

Monday, December 7th, 2009
Q.
I am nearly coming to the end of invisalign treatment and have found that my top front teeth have gone forward and caused me to have a bit of an overbite. Also my lower left canine gum has receded, which must be due to brushing too hard as I don’t have gum disease. Will invisalign refinements be able to push my front teeth back a bit? or is there any other treatment that can fix my bite? Where can I go to get a gum graft, as it is causing me a lot of anguish.

I have mild chronic periodontitis with areas of mild gingival recession. My dentist recommends a conventional full-mouth periodontal debridement. Is this procedure correct?

I feel some funny clicky popping feeling under my gums plz advice

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009
Q.
Hello Dr, For the past couple of months (even in between Dentist visits) I have a feeling on my gums. Its a funny clicky, popping feeling as if air was getting under a layer of my gum and then requires for me to press down to pop it away. I hope I’m explaining myself right. I feel so frustrated since I do a lot of public speaking and I’m so afraid of loosing my teeth. My husband calls me paranoid, but what do you think I’m experiencing. At times the feeling last days. Sometimes its a little painful, mostly uncomfortable but mostly frustrating. One dentist ranked out gum disease. I brush three times a day and after i brush the feeling subsides for a while until I eat, chew gum the noise comes back. I even feel it behind my two front teeth’s upper gum. HELP!

Could you provide some information for patients with periodontics?

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009
Q.
Hello, I am in my late 50s and have really bad periodontitis as well as big gaps in my front teeths. I was give several options – crowns, porcelain veneers, caps. I was also told that I have to have a surgery to correct the periodontitis (by building bone ?) before the cosmetic procedure can be done. Can you please provide some information on what’s is usually better for patients with periodontitis. Thank you,
