What would be the cause for gum shrinkage?

Q. I recently visited my dentist who told me i had alot of gum shrinkage. I am now finding this quite worrying as she didnt tell me the cause or more importantly if there was anything i could do to prevent it. Would appreciate ur advice. many thanks

A. Hi, there are many reasons for what i think you have which is periodontal disease (gum disease),

1:smoking is the biggest causing factor
2:poor oral hygiene
3:times of high stress
4:genetic.

hope this is helpful.

Yes it sounds like implants might be your only option. You should try to find an implant dentist in your area.

my dentist have just told me that have lost about 3 mm of bone structure, and i have managed to create some gaps on the sides of my 2 front teeth. As i i am quite vain and nothing else on my body disturbes. I have notice that this defect disturbes my mind more than i thought. What would u recommend , lumineers ? And obviously the bonelose have caused gaps between my tooth so i am constantly walking around being worried that their is food stucked between those spaces and causes bad breath. Considering its impossible to find out if u have a bad breath or not. The thing is i am studying to become a doctor , so for me a white smile and a fresh breath is an essential future

First treat the gum disease causing the bone loss then consider veneers to improve the appearance of the teeth

hi i’ve had my implant for about 3 weeks nows and it still feels a little tender and sore and a tad itchy. is this normal, or should I be worried? I am using salt water to treat it and taking extra care not to brush on top of it, is this the best way to keep it healthy and free of infection? I really don’t want to lose out on my new tooth so any help you can give would be very much appreciated doctor. thank you for your time
