Can periodontal bone loss problem be corrected with careful maintenance

Q. I have been diagnoised with peridontal bone loss with pockets 7-9. I am also a diabetic. With extra careful care / maintence can this problem over correct itself.

A. Periodontal disease is a multifactorial problem and one of the elements is your immunity and its response to bacterial infection around your gums.  Your roots will need to be cleaned and then carefully maintained by you and your hygienist to give you the best chance of stabilizing your periodontal disease.
