I have a 9 mm overbite, are there any alternatives to jaw surgery?
Saturday, December 4th, 2010 I have 9 mm overbite (overjet). During my last visit to India i have braces and my orthodontics extract my two upper premolars in order to make space and he put braces only at upper teeth. I came back to denmark after 1 month and find an orthodontic for furthur treatment. The orthodontics here suggest that i need a jaw surgery instead extraction of premolars. while the jaw surgery will perform in hospital and it is free in denmark.
is there any alternate to jaw surgery , can braces done the job itself? I have deep overbite of 9 mm what would you recommend?
many thanx in advance
What are my best options to correct a protruding canine tooth and slight overbite?
Thursday, December 2nd, 2010Good Afternoon Dr. Verma,
I visited two orthodontists and a dentist for my right upper canine tooth that is slightly protruding.
The first orthodontists, said that i needed to remove both left and right 2nd premolars and wear braces for two years then retainers, because i also have a slight overbite.
The second said the same thing. but i only need it on top.
The dentist said that since its the canine tooth that’s protruding, i could wear a hawley retainer to pull/push it in for a year.
Do you think the hawley retainer would actually work?
And is it really necessary for them to remove the premolars if it is slightly protruding?

Thankyou for your time.
I have a reverse overbit and need it corrected. Can I do it on the NHS?
Tuesday, November 23rd, 2010 I am turning 18 this summer and starting university away from home this year.
I have a reverse overbite and have previously had braces, however my teeth have relapsed from a period without retainers.
I feel my bite has changed, as I now find it difficult to close my mouth without catching my cheeks in the process and find that my speech has changed as a result.
As a prospective medical student, I feel this will damage my confidence, especially when communicating with my patients and also personally.
I have researched the proceedures available and am aware and prepared for the commitment and post-operative care.
Do you think I am a suitable candidate for corrective surgery, who would I need to talk to, how long will the treatment take and would it be available to me on the NHS?
Thankyou Very much for your time!
