I have had braces for two years and my dentist said I should get a tooth taken out for overbite. Can you give me any advice?

Q.
I Know this is silly, but I wanted to get a second opinion! I have been in braces for 2 years now going on to 2 1/2. My last appointment my orthodontist said that I have a bit of an overbite and that he wants to take out one tooth. I asked if it would change my smile dramatically and if he highly suggested it, but all he said
A.
Don’t worry, if you are happy with your teeth in the position they are currently in and they are comfortable in your natural biting position, then I would suggest leave well alone. It is normal to have a bit of an overbite and as long as you wear your final retainers, your teeth will stay in the same position as you get older. Just confirm with your orthodontist if there are any specific reasons why he wants to remove a tooth and what will your teeth look like, as you are happy with them as they are right now.
I hope this helps,
