I live in Londonderry and I want my top teeth to be straightened what are my options

Friday, June 5th, 2009
Q.
I have the classic condition of fangs on my top teeth, I really want my top teeth to be straight as i never smile in photos and its got to the stage i hate getting photos taken. My bottom teeth are not completly straight but im happy enough with them, when i went looking about getting somthing done before, they recommended getting teeth removed and then set my jaw as my bite wasnt 100%, i understand what an over bite is but my teeth are level with each other and i didnt want this major operation done, all i want is my top teeth to be straight so i can smile and im not worried about how good my bite is. Can you help??? Can you suggest anyone in my home town in Londonderry, N.Ireland??? I look forward to hearing from you.

After i had frenectomy treatment after that i had a gap in between my teeth what can i do

Thursday, June 4th, 2009
Q.
HI, i don’t know if you can help but i had orthodontic treatment that i completed after three years in 2001. during which my orthodontist told me that a surgeon had to perform a frenectomy cutting the little band of tissue under my top lip. Since then my teeth have reverted back to the way they were. After recently getting in touch with her .. i told here the situation and she has refused to rectify it. I was a private patient so i paid £2000 for the treatment and another 800 for the surgery. I have since been investigating the surgery that she asked to me undertake. and apparently a frenectomy is used to allow the two front teeth to come together.. to close a gap. But i have studied photos of my teeth before the treatment and i never had a gap inbetween them .. at all. Do you know what i can do.. as it appears to me that she has taken my money and not done what she promised. Thanks

I have a traumatic jaw what are my option other than having a surgery or straightening my teeth

Thursday, June 4th, 2009
Q.
Hi, I was told by my orthodontist that I have a traumatic jaw and she advised two options – one was to go through an operation involving jaw reconstruction and then braces for a year or second option to have two teeth removed on either side and have braces for two years which would result in 60-70% accuracy of teeth alignment. I have an under bite. Quite frankly, I don’t fancy either of these so could there be an alternative to acquiring straight jaw line and teeth alignment within a short scale of time? Thanking you in anticipation.

My adult tooth has broken through the roof of tooth can i uses invisalign instead of braces

Thursday, June 4th, 2009
Q.
Hi there, I still have 1 baby tooth left (I’m 29!)the tooth is the third from the front at the top. The adult tooth has just broken through the roof of mouth behind the exsisting baby tooth.I’ve just been to an NHS training hospital, and the othadontist is prepared to carry out the work required for free , But they want to fit me with fixed braces on the top and bottom row, which I’ll have to wear for at least 14 months. I really dont want to have to wear such obvouis braces, and although i can get this treatment for free, Id like to know if invisalign would be suitable for treatment like mine? With regards

I just noticed that my mouth palate is hard and it outward Is it abnormal bone growth

Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009
Q.
I just noticed that my mouth palate is hard and it outward, I am not sure how long I have had this but I did have braces about four years ago and I am worried. Does this have anything to do with braces or is it an abnormal bone growth? It does not hurt at all but a few months ago after noticing the problem, that part of my mouth was sore like when you get burned and it was hard for me to eat, I rinsed with peroxide and in a couple of days it was back to normal.

My upper canines are crooked is it possible to have a dental filling or will i need to remove it

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009
Q.
Dear Dr Patel Both of my upper canines are crooked, lying flat against the vertical edge of my two front teeth, if you can picture that! I suspect I need a filling in the left canine and plan to visit my dentist soon. However, given that the tooth is so difficult to access, is filling it possible or will it need to be removed? I’m worried as I’m only 30 and have always been known for my lovely smile! Many thanks in anticipation,

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009
Q.
As a child and teenager I sucked my thumb causing my teeth to be pushed up and causing a arched gap. It is quite pronounced and people often comment that they can’t see my top teeth when I talk. I feel very self conscious and embarrassed by my teeth. Is there anything that can be done?

my daughter is in jaw pain so she can not close her jaw completely what would be the reason

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009
Q.
My 25 year old daughter has been having bouts of jaw pain ever since she had her braces removed about three years ago. The pain can become so severe it goes into her neck. She is unable to close her jaw completely so that her back teeth touch and her jaw clicks. Her orthodontist didn’t say anything about any jaw problems when her braces were put on. Any ideas on what could be wrong and what she can do to alleviate her pain.

Is surgery for an underbite, considered cosmetic surgery? what kind of insurance should I carry for the possibility, that my child should need the surgery for her underbite. current orthodontics believes she may need surgery, but will wait until right before she turns eighteen years old.
