im considering to have mandibular osteotomy is it possible to have invisalign braces instead

Friday, May 8th, 2009
Q.
Hi I am 22 years old and am considering firstly having a mandibular osteotomy and brace treatment. Due to my age I am reluctant to have traintracks again (I have already had traintrack treatment when I was 15, which was unsuccessful). I have been to see an NHS surgeon and orthadontist about this, and they have recommended that I have the treatment. Firstly I would like to ask if its possible to have either Invisalign braces or the braces that go behind your teeth under NHS, or whether they will pay partly towards this? Due to my age traintracks are not an option for me. Also I would like to ask whether it is possible to have the invisalign braces done privately, but the surgery done on the NHS, since I cannot afford the expense? Thank you.

I was wondering if there any orthodontic surgery that widens the jaw?

Monday, May 4th, 2009
Q.
Hi, I was wondering what a suitable age for placing veneers on teeth is, as I am 16 and my dentist has recommended this as a follow up from my braces, as my main problem is that I have quite a narrow jaw, which I personally really dislike. So my dentist is creating gaps between my teeth in order to fill them up with veneers, though I don’t see this having much effect. And as I have understood I am too old for a rapid palate expander, I was wondering if there was any orthodontic surgery that widens the jaw?

I am not sure whether i should go to a cosmetic dentist or to a orthodontist get my teeth done

Monday, May 4th, 2009
Q.
Hi, wonder if you could help me. I am desparate to get my teeth done and am not sure whether I should go to a Cosmetic Dentist or to a orthodontist first. I have four upper teeth capped (front) and my teeth are now protuding which I hate. This has happened over the last 10 years. I did wear a brace for a while but when I stopped I developed a gap in my front teeth. My upper teeth are not aligned as I had a side one removed at the age of 15 and then the caps were made bigger to take this into account. In addition, I my normal teeth are discoloured and I want to have perfect white teeth with no gap. Do I have to replace the caps and also have root canal treatment on the other teeth both upper and lower that are noticeable when I smile or is there some other way of whitening teeth without going through this expensive process. Also, what do I do about the upper protuding teeth. Should this get checked before I have any cosmetic dentistry.

my front tooth is twisted a bit would it be possible to only have 1 veneers

Monday, May 4th, 2009
Q.
My teeth are in pretty good condition. I have no fillings and they are quite white. My only problem is my front tooth is twisted and so from the side, when i smile, my tooth looks pointed. I really want to get this corrected. Having researched a little into it i fear it may be really expensive. Would it be possible to only have 1 veneer, i dont want it to look odd against my other teeth, and how much would only 1 cost? Also how much would braces cost? as i dont think, in my case, it should take too long to correct. Thanks

Q.
I am 28 years old and have quite over crowded teeth on the right side of my mouth. I would really like to get these straight as my ‘eye’ tooth is tucked behind my main front tooth and looks horrible from the side when I smile. I am getting referred by my dentist to an orthodontist, and not sure what I will need

my top front teeth are pushing backward would invisalign be an option for this problem?

Sunday, May 3rd, 2009
Q.
I am 35yrs old and my top two front teeth are pushing backwards, making the teeth next to them stick out. I can feel the pressure of this and am sure they are now moving backwards more rapidly that ever before. I asked my NHS dentist who checked my bite and said they are fine. My smile is quite big and I have always looked after my teeth. Would invisalign be an option for this problem?

Sunday, May 3rd, 2009
Q.
Hi, I have recently started invilign treatment and am wearing my aligners for about 21-22 hours a day, taking them out for about 20 mins at 5 times a day for meals. I was told by my orthodontist that to get the benefits I should try to wear my aligners for 15 hour straight without taking them out by skipping breakfast in the morning, can you tell me if this accurate, Do I need to wear my aligners for 15 hours straight in order for them to work ie. for teeth movment. thanks.

I had braces when i was 14,as i had protruding teeth,my parents initially werent ready to spend as they didnt afford, but some how they agreed.then after 2 years when the braces were removed i used retainers.but inspite of using retainers a gap had come in the front lower teeth,i went 2 the doctor again,he asked me to pay some money which i cud not afford at that time, then i left if like that only.now i am 22 and am earning,is there any other way to treat again after so many years as my teeth have completely moved to what they were before,do i have to put braces again or any other method without using braces,hw many days it will take for treatment.

I have an overbite can i have my top set of teeth straightened without touching my bottom set

Saturday, May 2nd, 2009
Q.
Recently I’ve been given a quote on a price for braces upper and lower. I always knew that braces would help solve my top teeth as my front tooth slightly overlaps with the 2 teeth at each side (7mm). To my surprise I was told I have an over bite of 105% which requires braces to correct. Is this a necessary requirement or can I have my top set of teeth straightend without having to touch my bottom set? Or will this cause problems later in life?
