Am i classed as having severe orthodontia and therefore able to get implants on NHS

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009
Q.
I currently have 6 teeth missing and am diabetic. Eating is a constant problem as I struggle to chew my food properly. I work full time but in a very poorly paid job and therefore cannot build up any savings. My partner is unemployed. Am I classed as having “severe orthodontia” and therefore able to get implants on NHS?

My teeth never have grown right as i only have 3 front teeth could you advise me on it?

Sunday, May 24th, 2009
Q.
Hi, when I was around 13 I fell off my bike and smashed all of my teeth out. Afterwards I needed them capping and fixing etc. But ever since then they’ve never grown right as I only have 3 front teeth, as apposed to 4. Which i’m very conscious about, and hate smiling, as when I do, all people do is look at my teeth, which isn’t good for my confidence. Plus, they’re slightly discoloured as different dentists capped different fillings on different occasions. Ideally i’d like to have 4 top front teeth (like most people) and would happily have my current ones ridden of. Could you advise me on what would be the best thing to do? Also would I be able to get it on the NHS or would I have to pay for it? If so, am I able to do so in installments? Thanks for taking your time out to read this.

Hello Dr. Moore, I am sixteen years old and I have ahuge problem. I no enamal on my teeth, My back teeth are the worst, which are black, and front teeth are brown and look like I don’t brush. I always hear kids whispering at school and I really dont have any friends, kids think that I am dirty, but I’m not. My mom can’t afford to fix my teeth, and she tells me I’m beautiful anyway, I want to believe her but just the tourture at school sucks. i had a bits of plague and it was untreated by the NHS dentist can it be retreated for free

Monday, May 18th, 2009
Q.
Hello, I am 21 and i have 2 children and receive a benefit, I can not afford private treatment so i have to rely on the NHS. I was seeing an NHS dentist for several monthes and 3 teeth needed work. One inperticuar was giving me lots of pain and when i went to him he never cleaned my teeth, he never drilled the teeth or took decay (i now realise that he should have done that for treatment to work). so he just kept putting filling material over the tooth and it kept coming off coutless times, he must have put filling over the tooth at least 5 times and everytime the fillig came off more of my tooth came off leaving a big hole, then he filled it again and i told him after this time i was still getting pain but he just said rinse it with mouth wash. i was told by the receptionist when i wanted to make an appointment that they had left the NHS, i was left with the same problems but bigger and an emergency dentsit said that the tooth should be removed due to absess formed and there was two other teeth that were undertreated too and treatment never worked that he did. I was told i had bits of plaque in my gums by another dentist (NHS) who did a cleaning for me but the other dentist never did this, just let it get worse, is there any way i can get that tooth replaced for free? like an implant? because i wouldnt feel comfatable with wearing an removable onebecause i feel if the dentist treated the tooth properly in the first place it wouldnt have resulted in this happenening. is there any way i can claim compensation for the correcting of these problems? because he had a duty of care and didnt provide the proper standard of treatment or are there any hospitals that will give me free treatment if they know my situation? i have been so depressed since this happened, i am sorry for the long read but need advice and would be grateful. Also just to add do they give dental payment plans to people on benefits? Thanks i would be grateful for your time and advice

my boyfriend still has his baby teeth what can be done to coax it out and can it be done in NHS

Sunday, May 17th, 2009
Q.
Hi, I hope you can help. My boyfriend is 25 years old and still has many of his baby teeth in situ. He pulled out a shakey one about 2 months ago but the one underneath -although just poking through gum- has not grown out properly. What can be done to coax it out so that he has no gap? If it does not grow out with time, what treatments are available & are they available on the NHS? He would not want to pay thousands of pounds to fix the problem. Thank you very much Doctor.

As I gagg when I am at the dentist I have not been for sometime. Would a dentist be prepared to treat me under sedation on the NHS.
