My front teeth are spreading so can ive veneers in NHS to stop it from spreading

Monday, August 3rd, 2009
Q.
Around 5-6 years ago i had my two front teeth at the top taken out and replaced with false teeth also because they were sticking out and spreading they had to add an extra false tooth in to hide the space but in the last two years i noticed that i now have big gaps appearing in between my teeth and my teeth are still spreading like a fan. i would like to replace my teeth with vaneers to stop them spreading and reduce my dental bills but i am presently on income support can i get it done on the nhs so as to increase my confidence again. just 2 days ago i lost one of my teeth at the front on the bottom so i do need my teeth seeing to as soon as possible

Can you have a bridge if you are missing 2 teeth next to each other

Sunday, August 2nd, 2009
Q.
Hello, I had an abcess that damaged a tooth at the side of my mouth (bottom jaw) and caused the tooth to fall out unfortunatly it caused some damage to the tooth next to it and I am now left with the root of the tooth that fell out plus half the tooth next to it – Dentist said I should have the root extracted – he said the half tooth next to it should also be extracted because he can’t save it (he did say I could leave it in as its not causing me any pain but won’t leaving it cause damage to my gums and other surrounding teeth? Also suggested I could have dentures to replace the 2 missing teeth on the NHS – how will they fit / feel – will I have to have some sort of plate in my mouth to keep them in place(won’t this feel uncomfy like a brace) could I not opt for a bridge instead as I understand you can have a bridge on the NHS but not sure how they work – can you have a bridge if you are missing 2 teeth that are next to eachother – scared about having 2 teeth out and being left with a gap or having dentures – I am only 35 can you please help advise me best course of action. Thank you

My left tooth is crossing over my right one how can i sort it out?

Saturday, August 1st, 2009
Q.
I used to have a brace when I was 14, I am now 25. There are no NHS dentits available in my area (Nottingham) so haven’t been able to see a dentist for around 2 years. My teeth used to be straight, but my Left tooth is now crossing over my right one and is very noticeable. Its really starting to worry me that my tooth might falling out as it seems to be pushing the right tooth back. What would be the best way to sort this out. I don’t have alot of money and can not find a dentist anywhere near I live.

As a recovered bulimia sufferer, the enamel on my teeth is badly eroded. I am a new mother too and wondered if it is possible to get porcelain veneers on the NHS.

I smashed my front tooth would it be okay to have a crown now and do the implants later

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009
Q.
I have recently smashed my front tooth out and saw an NHS dentist as an emergency patient. The tooth has been cut back to just below the gum, and treated. I have been advised the tooth is now dead but what is left is still firmly in. The dentist advised getting a crown put on this for the next few years, during which the tooth will fall out naturally. I was told I will then need an implant and new crown. I was advised it is better to leave the tooth as is, without taking it out at this stage, and let it come out naturally over time. Then get the implant with new crown as and when this happens. Is this good advice, or would you recommend getting all the work done now? Its worth mentioning the tooth to the side of this has also been chipped, but not broken, so work will be done on this now. Many thanks for your help.

Im 18 and my front teeth are few mm wide and there are longer than the others any advice?

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009
Q.
Hi there, Im an 18 year old student and ever since i was young i have always had a gap between my two front teeth. Over the years i think it has closed a little so i would say it was a few mm wide. Its always been an issue for me as i dont like to show my teeth on photos and when i am talking to someone and i know im going to laugh i try to cover my mouth so they don’t see my teeth! They are also a little longer than normal front teeth. I absolutely hate them and they are the only thing i hate about my teeth. Is there any treatments that would help to close this gap, or even veneers? Obviously because i am a uni student i dont have as much money as i would wish for at the moment so are there still options to go through the NHS? Many thanks, Regards,

My teeth are yellow due to medication and i have crowding at the front can you advice

Friday, July 24th, 2009
Q.
Hi there dr, I hope you can help. When I was young me and my brother were given medication that turned our teeth extremely yellow (I can’t remember the name off hand, liquid antibiotics I think). Further to this, my wisdom teeth have grown under my gums forwards instead of upwards, and I have crowding at the front as well as very short teeth. I have been unwell for a few years and am unable to work. What would you advise me, and also are there options for patients in my position financially. I am extremely self conscious about my smile and at thirty, i’d like to do something before I’m much older so I can have a few smiley photos! Thanks!
