Can anything be done for gappy teeth in cosmetic dentistry?

Monday, October 12th, 2009
Q.
Hi, I am 53 and had conventional orthodontic treatment to straighten my front teeth as a teenager. In recent years, my front teeth have started to move forwards and have gaps. I initially looked into orthodontic treatment but was told that it was unlikely to be successful due to ‘getting long in the tooth’. Is there anything by way of cosmetic dentistry that could done?

Is its possible to replace amalgam fillings?

Monday, October 12th, 2009
Q.
Hi, I am 15 and have suffered from amelogenesis imperfecta my whole life. At the moment, all of my molars have stainless steel caps on them and most of my teeth are heavily restored with amalgam fillings. Apparently, these restorations were stronger when I was younger, but now I am getting bullied at school because it looks like I am chewing tin foil all the time! Is it possible to get these replaced with tooth coloured restorations and can this be done on the NHS?

What is the success rate for implants on people with gum disease?

Monday, October 12th, 2009
Q.
Dear DOCTOR I suffer with periodontal disease which is controlled and my teeth are not loose. Recently I have had a sharp pain on chewing under a molar that is crowned. Following an x-ray I have been told that there is chronic infection low down irritating the nerve and that the tooth will have to come out. I am an NHS patient but am prepared to pay privately to have an implant which the NHS dentist would do. I am told there is no rush to decide providing the pain is only occasional . Does this mean it will not make me ill if I take my time . Also what is the success rate for implants on people with gum disease and would the infection need to be treated before commencing or is chronic infection something that does not go away.Thankyou

Just found Dr denti ” Tooth-Fil on line… but would like to know if its available in Chemists shops. thanks for any info. I m 18 can I have treatment for my teeth at NHS?

Sunday, October 11th, 2009
Q.
Dear Dr. Patel, At the age of around 12 I chipped my front tooth after a fall leaving less than half of my front tooth behind. I had a filling applied to this, but the tooth has gradually darkened over time. I’ve heard that this is due to internal bleeding within the tooth. Yesterday, this filling fell out and I am yet again left with half a tooth. The tooth in question is a few shades darker than my other front tooth and it looks very bad. I’m an 18 year old on a gap year, with no money at all. Would the NHS be able to help with my problem because it really looks awful? Thank you

Can the procedure of implant be cheaper.Plz suggest

Sunday, October 11th, 2009
Q.
I recently had my front tooth extracted about 8 months ago because when I was a child a root canal was done on my tooth incorrectly. After different techniques and surgery my dentist said the tooth couldn’t be saved because it was to far gone. I was laid off my job and lost my insurance. I currently have a fake pull out tooth that I hate! I hide it from my husband and family because I am embarassed. I can’t afford to continue the procedure for an implant. What can I do? Is there any information you can give me to help me? Thank you.
