Can I have implants in nhs or at reduced rate.Plz advice

Q. I suffer from ankylosing spondylitis and take various medications such as fosamax, amytriptline, temazepam, solphadol an I have also been on remicade. I have lost all my teeth due to medication an illness, would it be possible to get implants on the nhs or at a reduced rate as I am disabled and unemployed,at present I have top dentures only that require me to use dental adhesive at a rate of a tube aday.thankyou

A. I’m afraid it might be very difficult for you to find anyone who does implants at a reduced rate as they are not available on the NHS. You could ask your dentist for a referral to a teaching hospital as this might be your only hope.

I have not had contact with you since you emailed me in 09, as Ihave been trying various ways to see if I can get implants

In your response RE; Dental Teaching Hospital,I have been attending Belfast Royal School of Dentristry Belfast for approx 4/5years, all they want to do is make acrylic dentures an after approx 5 sets made in so many years it is obivious they do not work, for me,I have asked about other materials that is used but i am told none avalible.

Since last talking to you I have got severly deppressed, 2 Sucide Attempts an pray every night its my last night, I have no life, Lost my partner of 26years, can hardly eat, when I do its 1/4 meal then dentures come out an my stomach is so sore from wretching I cant bear to have them in till my stomach settles, even then stomach is so sore I just cant face eating again due to cycle happening over an over again.

Many Thanks For Your advice, Just very sad you could not have been more helpful, but thats how our society is now, people want to help but cant due to rules and regulations, and the ones that can help do so at a price beyond most peoples means.

Again Many Thanks

Martin
