Am I eligible for nhs dental treatment?

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009
Q.
At the age of 15 I had four teeth removed and was given a temporary brace to move my teeth, then a fixed brace on my lower teeth for 9 months and one on my top teeth for only 2 months. My teeth were never completely straight at the time I had the brace removed and I stated my worries to the orthodontist. He ignored my request to keep the braces on longer. When removing the braces he cut my gums severely and did not polish them afterwards. I was given a retainer to wear and was never invited to a check up. I have expressed my concerns to my NHS dentist as I have marks on my teeth from the braces and my top teeth sit slightly behind my two front teeth. I am 18 now and a student I would really like the perfect smile I thought I was getting. Is there any way I can be referred to get the treatment I should have got at the younger age? Thank you for your time.

Does NHS fit braces as I have teeth gap?

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009
Q.
I was wondering i would be able to get vaneers or implants done on the nhs as my two front teeth at the bottom have formed a gap as all my bottom teeth used to be perfectly straight and no gaps until i became addicted to coca cola and i would like the replacements to look like my own instead of having dentures like old people have as i am only 30 years of age and as an adult would i be able to have a brace fitted to my top teeth on the nhs as i have got gaps between my teeth that i would like closed up.

Need long lasting remedy for discoloured gappy teeth

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009
Q.
I have had braces and yet i have a small gap between my two front teeth, my orthadontist said i should go and see my dentist for bonding or venners as there is nothing else she can do. i was just wondering which technique is better and longer lasting and if they are stain resistant. Also i may consider home teeth whitening kits, and was wondering if they the veneers or the bonding will whiten also. morevover can you please tell me the NHS prices fro these and if there is a significant reduction in prices if you are a university student.

Can implants replace my dentures?

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009
Q.
Dear Rob, I have lost about half of my teeth. I had a set of dentures made up a couple of years ago, but find them impossible to wear, they are extremely uncomfortable. To compound this problem, all of my front teeth were damaged in an accident a number of years ago, and i have a habit of grinding what remains of them. The are becoming quite ‘threadbare’ and sensitive. I am also not in a position to fund the extensive dental surgery I would require to prevent further damage. I believe there are certain criteria that the NHS would consider adequate medical justification for funding implants, and I was wondering if a patient such as myself would fall into this group. Please advise. Many thanks,

Need to know the prices for cosmetic dentistry treatments

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009
Q.
Hi i was wondering if you could help me? II desperatly need to get cosmetic dentistry and was wondering if i could get it done on the NHS? I have no adult lateral incisors only baby ones and one of them has come out but the other one is still there and i desperatly dont want it to come out but i know that eventually it will. It makes my mouth look horrible and i hate smiling and laughing in front of people because im ashamed of what my smile looks like as soon as i open my mouth. i really affects my self asteem and it is hard to bite into things in case i knock out the remaining tooth. I have been wanting to persue in modeling as well and i have been accepted with pictures i have sent in but my mouth is allways closed in my photos and i am certain that if i go for an interview as soon as i open my mouth they will show me the door again. I am desperate to get my mouth corrected as it is making me very unhappy. please write back soon.

What are the options for my post accident dental issues?

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009
Q.
Thanks for taking the time to read this. basically i had an accident while playing football which has led to me losing over half of one of my front teeth and the other front tooth being pushed back out of place. also along with that my bottom teeth are quite covered in plaque and rotten due to many a years cola drinking without looking after my teeth and they have become quite rotted and were also slightly pushed back in the accident and feel quite sore. ive not had a dental visit for 12 yrs until i had emergency surgery the day after the accident and all the dentist did was pull my front tooth forward again and glue it to the tooth next to it aswell as to the snapped tooth which he appears to have just covered in glue aswell to stop me cutting my mouth open on. i really dont like the sound of having false teeth put in place as my front teeth top ot bottom but it seems i may lose most of them if this repair work wasnt successful and if my bottom front teeth cant be saved. what are my options as im a unemployed nhs dental user. thanks for yor time
