Can the process of tooth extraction be quicker?

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009
Q.
I went to my dentist (NHS)for the second time re. my wisdom tooth. I was given antibiotics and she drained some of the infection. I asked to be referred to a specialist for extracion. This takes up to 6 months. I hate taking antibiotics and would rather have the tooth out asap. Can this process happen quicker i.e through private practice? What is the wait for an operation when going private and where could i go? I don’t understand why she seems reluctant to refer me and get it treated properly. I live in London. Best Wishes

Whats the risk involved in having dentistry students perform the surgery?

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009
Q.
Hello. Five years ago, my orthodontist informed me that I am missing both of my adult upper canines. I am currently 20 and, luckily, I am still in possession of my ‘baby-teeth’ but I fear that I may loose them within the next year. I’ve been told that I will need dental implants, and that they’re very expensive. Being a student, I’m already facing a large amount of debt. Is is possible to get this treatment on the NHS? My dentist has informed me that it may be possible to reduce the cost by having dentistry students perform the surgery. How much risk is involved if I choose to go to a teaching hospital, etc?

Is there any kind of dental or cosmetic work to improve my facial features?

Monday, October 19th, 2009
Q.
Hi i am a 29 year old woman and was born with a cleft palate which i had repaired at 11 months, i also had a lot of orthodontic work done from the age of 13 to 18 years, although there was a big difference to my teeth, my top teeth still sit just inside my bottom teeth and i feel this affects my facial features i am just wondering if there is any other kind of dental or cosmetic work i could have done to improve this and if so how much would it cost on the NHS or private

Can I hv another bridge done in NHS Plz advice

Monday, October 19th, 2009
Q.
I had a bridge for about 15years which consisted of 2 back crowns a front crown which supported the 2 teeth that were missing on the upper jaw and the bridge was good but it started to come loose and my dentist told me that it was because my gums were receeding so it would have to be replaced so it was with a front and back crown that was nearly 5 years ago but now the bridge has broke off from the front crown, The same dentist has suggested a denture as I would not get another bridge,As dental treatmant is so expensive in the UK I was thinking about haveing it done abroad, So please could you advise me if there is any other options with the NHS about haveing another bridge done? Thank You
