I Have One Tooth That Comes Forward After It Was Impacted. I Would Really Like A Brace, Would It Cost Me A Fortune?

Monday, March 10th, 2014
Q.

Hi Dr Moore, I am 15 years old and in all honestly my teeth are fairly straight apart from this one tooth at the front which is up a lot more than the rest. This really annoys me. I think it happened when the baby tooth underneath took too long to fall out and for some reason the adult tooth started growing first, over the top if it. I would really like to have a brace or something for it, I just don’t want it to cost thousands of pounds! I hope you can help. Thank you for any advice you can offer me.

My Canine Has Erupted Over The Top Of My Other Teeth. Would I Be Eligible For Braces Through The NHS As I’m A Student?

Friday, January 24th, 2014
Q.

Hello,
I am currently studying at university and I am 19. Over the past year my canine tooth has erupted out but now it is close to being in line with my other teeth, it grew over the top of my other teeth.
It is quite unsightly. My other canine tooth erupted when I was around 11 and my dentist just told to me to wait for the other one to erupt. It makes my teeth look overcrowded. My question is why did this canine tooth take so long to erupt and grow through and will I need braces and can I still get them on the NHS? How long would I have to wear them for? Thank you for your time and I look forward to your advice.

My Daughter’s Teeth Are Growing In Crooked And I’m Worried That She Will Be Teased. Is There Anything You Can Do?

Wednesday, January 15th, 2014
Q.

My daughter is nearly 8 and I have noticed that her two top front teeth (they are her second teeth) are growing at strange angles and behind her two bottom teeth is another tooth growing behind. I’m really worried, at our last check up a few months ago the dentist told me not to worry but to be honest I can’t help but worry, although things can be done when she is older. I don’t want her or any of her friends to notice anything because she already suffers from being far too shy or too different. Could you suggest anything?

Is It Possible For A Tooth To Grow Inside The Palate?

Monday, January 13th, 2014
Q.

Is it possible for a tooth to grow inside the palate? When I was a kid a had a missing tooth (premolar) that caused a lot of disarrangement and spaces between my teeth. Now I’m 21 years old and the remaining premolar and one of my other molar are stuck together, and also there’s a hump in my palate, I think that’s the premolar that supposed to be growing through but I can’t be sure. I don’t know what to do as I don’t have enough money to go to the dentist, so please can you help me?

I Have An Impacted Tooth Which Hurts The Tooth Below It. Will Braces Fix This For Me?

Friday, December 13th, 2013
Q.

Hi there,
I have a tooth growing on top of another tooth (2nd premolar). I would like to know if I would need braces to fix this. I have been searching online and have seen that most people who share my problem with their teeth have needed and been given braces. They have said it was because of the growing tooth needing to grow down straight after the already present tooth was removed, so that none of the other teeth would move. I am not sure whether the growing tooth is growing in the right position, but it appears as though it is growing but sticking out of line from the rest of the teeth. I also cannot chew properly on that side (left) of my mouth, because of my tooth pushing against the one that is growing which hurts a lot. I also would like to know how the gaps in my teeth and my two bottom central twisted incisors could also be fixed (if possible), as other people always point them out to me which effects my confidence a lot.

Thanks a lot!

Hello. I Have A Small Jaw And I Need A Tooth Removing As It Is Impacting On Others. How Much Does This Cost?

Wednesday, December 4th, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Moore, I have a tooth at the front of my mouth which has grown over my other teeth. There was not a big enough space for it to grow into as my jaw is too small and I apparently have too many teeth. This means that they have no space to grow straight. I really dislike the way it looks as it is very noticeable. I am currently asking around and was wondering if you could give me a quote of what kind of prices it would be to have the tooth removed. Can there be any complications involved with this type of procedure? This would be of great help to me thank you.

I’ve Had Conflicting Advice. Should I Get Implants Or A Cantilever Bridge?

Monday, November 11th, 2013
Q.

My 7th right lower molar was done with RCT. But due to poor support of the crown capping they were misplaced twice. RCT was also not done properly due to prognosis being questionable. Now my doctor has advised me for an extraction due to the poor condition of the tooth. My 8th molar was already extracted 3 years back due to impaction. I am afraid that in absence of two molars that I will be unable chew food. Someone suggested a Cantilever bridge and someone said implant. what should I go for? I am confused, I hope you can advise me. Also is it necessary to go for any option after extraction? Can’t it be left as it is? Thanks.

My adult teeth have not erupted, could I fill in the gaps with a dental bridge?

Tuesday, March 20th, 2012
Q.

Hello,
I have 2 baby teeth where my adult canine teeth should be. The adult teeth are impacted up very high. They are actually perfectly placed and not anywhere touching any nerves or disrupting any bones. I was told the best option would be to have my baby teeth extracted and have braces put on my whole mouth as well as drill up into my mouth and slowly bring my adult teeth into their proper place. I know this is the best option for me to keep my given teeth. However, I was wondering if putting in a bridge would be another available option. I do not have a lot of money or any dental insurance so this is a very costly method and I know bridges are a lot cheaper. I’m also 28 years old and I would really not like to have braces for the next 3 years of my life. My childhood/adolescent dentist swore i would never need them, which is why I am just now finding this out. I’m not sure implants would be an option because I’m not sure there is enough bone from the baby teeth. I would just like some advice on getting a bridge in place of a canine or any other cost effective options. Thank you!

My tooth still hurts after an accident, is my best option root canal treatment?

Monday, June 6th, 2011
Q.

Hello Mark, how long can it take for a damaged tooth ligament to settle. My front tooth does not seem to be recovering since the impact , which is almost four weeks ago. I still can’t bite down on it. Do you think Root Canal Treatment is my better option? X Rays show no sign of damage to the roots.
Could the pulp still be damaged? The tooth mostly hurts when I bite on it but does throb on and off through the day. thank you for your time

Could my wisdom tooth be impacted?

Friday, March 18th, 2011
Q.

Hi,
3 of my wisdom teeth have come out. They haven’t cause me problems, apart from they are all facing the gum outwards (just slightly), but are fine.
But recently my last wisdom tooth has started coming up.
It has broken the skin. But only on one side, and now there is a gap between the wisdom tooth and the other tooth. Does this mean the wisdom tooth is impacted?
