I Have One Tooth That Comes Forward After It Was Impacted. I Would Really Like A Brace, Would It Cost Me A Fortune?

Q.
Hi Dr Moore, I am 15 years old and in all honestly my teeth are fairly straight apart from this one tooth at the front which is up a lot more than the rest. This really annoys me. I think it happened when the baby tooth underneath took too long to fall out and for some reason the adult tooth started growing first, over the top if it. I would really like to have a brace or something for it, I just don’t want it to cost thousands of pounds! I hope you can help. Thank you for any advice you can offer me.

Hello and thank you for writing in. It sounds like you have an impacted tooth. If you’re 15 you should still qualify for free treatment through the NHS, so the best thing for you to do would be to go to your dentist and ask what options you have for fixed braces. Try to find an experienced orthodontist you feel comfortable with. I hope this helps and I wish you the all the best when it comes to this treatment. Regards, Dr Andrew Moore.
