I have a bluish area on my inner gum and I also have MVP. Is there anything I need to be worried about?

Saturday, March 28th, 2009
Q.
I was just at a new dentist a month ago for a cleaning. There was no mention of gum disease or any problems other than a cap that I need. The inner bottom area of my gums were more sensitive than others, but she said I just need to make sure when I brush there that I also brush the gum. I have a bridge on that side. Yesterday I noticed a small bluish area on my inner gum line under where the bridge cap is. This was where is was sensitive when she measured. She was more rough than I’m used to. There is no swelling and no pain, but what is this blue color? I also have MVP. Do I need to be concerned? Could this just be late brusing from the cleaning??

i have suffered from periodontal gum disease I am dreading further teeth loss

Saturday, March 28th, 2009
Q.
I have suffered from periodontal gum disease for a few years. I am an otherwise reasonably healthy ex-smoker aged 51yrs. I have now lost approx. 6 teeth (upper only) and have recently needed to start wearing a partial denture. I find this very upsetting and dread further teeth loss. What would you recommend (for someone who has very limited funds)I do?

I recently had a periodontal cleaning procedure done; I have painful white gums

Saturday, March 28th, 2009
Q.
Hi Dr. Patel, I started having painful white gums on my lower left side of the mouth 18 days ago. I had just had my periodontal cleaning in November(2 months ago). I saw the dentist he said to have a biopsy. I saw the oral surgeon, but right before the pain wasn’t so bad and not as white. So he said to watch it for 2 weeks and come back. Now the pain is back and the white gums are back and look like it’s deteroriating. My lab work isn’t good either. Absolute Eosinophils are very high, sed rate is high, and bun is low. I’m going for the biopsy in 6 days. What do you think? Thanks.

Q.
Hi,I also wanted to ask you about perio protect, can you get it on the NHS?How much is it and do you think it could be the kind of treatment i need? Due to my age my dentist is concerned about my situation and as i have not been able to see a specialist yet(may take 1 month)I am worried.Three months ago i was diagnosed with gum disease and it seems my condition has deteriorated quickly.I am not sure who would be the most appropriate periodontist for me to visit(privately.)Hope to hear from you soon, thankyou
