I recently had a periodontal cleaning procedure done; I have painful white gums

Q. Hi Dr. Patel, I started having painful white gums on my lower left side of the mouth 18 days ago. I had just had my periodontal cleaning in November(2 months ago). I saw the dentist he said to have a biopsy. I saw the oral surgeon, but right before the pain wasn’t so bad and not as white. So he said to watch it for 2 weeks and come back. Now the pain is back and the white gums are back and look like it’s deteroriating. My lab work isn’t good either. Absolute Eosinophils are very high, sed rate is high, and bun is low. I’m going for the biopsy in 6 days. What do you think? Thanks.

A. It is very difficult for me to diagnose you without seeing you and the biopsy results there are a number of inflammatory conditions that it could be which although painful can be treated with steroids..  Please do not worry and wait for your biopsy results.
