Iam getting quite worried about my receeding gums

Thursday, February 5th, 2009
Q.
Hi there, I am getting quite worried about my receeding gums and what can be done about them. I have really bad receeding gums on both my top front teeth and all my lower front teeth. My teeth have started to be really painful, aching most of the time and are now incredibly sensitive to hot, cold and sweet foods. I am only 25, dont have any dental problems that I know of and my gums dont bleed, this seems to have started suddenly a year ago and I notice the gums shrinking noticeably more every few weeks. My dentist has told me it is due to harsh brushing and there is nothing I can do about it, but I use a soft toothbrush and am careful when brushing them. I’m just worried about damage to the teeth in the future, and who is the best person to see about this. Thanks

I have a sudden outbreak of gum disease next to my implant

Wednesday, January 28th, 2009
Q.
I have a sudden outbreak of gum disease next to my only implant which was put in over 2 years ago and has never given me any trouble. I am careful about brushing, flossing and cleaning so this is unexplained. Your site mentions “other drugs can even cause abnormal development of gum disease”. Could you tell me what these might be? Could creatine have any effect? Thank you

Q.
Hello, i have 2 front crowns at the front, but due to gum disease they have moved and my gums have receeded slightly. i have a regular visits to my dentist and hygienist , i have been referred to Guy’s dental hospital, but the solution they came up with was pink veneer to cover gum recession and reshaping exsisting crowns,i want something more permanenet. Is there some sort of gum /tooth implant that can be performed,i’m not worried how intrusive this has to be, so i can regain my confidence.i will be very grateful for any information you can offer

I have bleeding gums on my bottom teeth and have noticed that in between two teeth my gum feels soft and is not firmly attached to my two teeth. The gum is covering the two teeth slightly more than before. I have also noticed a build up of plaque on these two teeth, behind at the back. I have made an appointment but am worried I don’t know what to expect? Can you help ?

Tuesday, December 23rd, 2008
Q.
Hi there, at the present moment im an nhs patient and im wanting my teeth sorting out i wont smile when people look or talk to me, when i chew i cant use my front teeth as they dont meet up with my lower ones, they go over the top, ive askd my dentist what i can do and she just said leave them alone as your gums are not 100% perfect but ive had terrible gums all my life and nobody has said anything about in the dentistry, she also said ive got too many fillings for anybody to even assess me, how can she judge a person by this, my old dentist said the reason why ive had 2 have these fillings which were my 1st ever at the age of 26 was because of my pregnancies the babies took all my calcium from me and put veneers on my upper left 2nd n 3rd and my upper right 2nd n 3rd teeth, im 39yrs old now and my husband goes mad at me when we have family get togethers as im always behind the camera, we didnt even have wedding pictures done beacuse i wont have my photos taken or anything, please can you give me some advice as to what i could do, i dont like locally to your surgery but if i have some advice then i may be able to do something as im getting to be a recluse because of this and cant even find a job… please can you email me back thanks

For years i had a dental implant

Tuesday, December 23rd, 2008
Q.
For years i had a dental implant. I have unsuccessfuly had a 2 new implants fitted, but they keep faling out. I have taken 3 courses of antibiotics to treat a gum infection in the same area, but pus just still keeps building up inside my gum and it is getting painful. The dentist now suggests that I have a bridge instead of an implant. Will I need my gums scaled in order to eliminate the infection?

I have radiating pain in my upper teeth

Thursday, December 11th, 2008
Q.
Hi, I have radiating pain in my upper teeth. I believed it is one of the upper molar. There is nothing wrong with the tooth but I can feel sharp pain radiating. Sometimes, the pain goes away entirely. The gums are bleeding when I floss. Do I need a root canal? I’m scared since I’ve already had two in the past month.
