I have a bluish area on my inner gum and I also have MVP. Is there anything I need to be worried about?

Q. I was just at a new dentist a month ago for a cleaning. There was no mention of gum disease or any problems other than a cap that I need. The inner bottom area of my gums were more sensitive than others, but she said I just need to make sure when I brush there that I also brush the gum. I have a bridge on that side. Yesterday I noticed a small bluish area on my inner gum line under where the bridge cap is. This was where is was sensitive when she measured. She was more rough than I’m used to. There is no swelling and no pain, but what is this blue color? I also have MVP. Do I need to be concerned? Could this just be late brusing from the cleaning??

A. The specific nature of the concern would require a clinical examination to answer it. I would return to your dentist in the first instance or change dentists if you remain unhappy with thier approach.
