Restorative work and Orthodontics

Monday, March 23rd, 2009
Q.
Hello. I am 50 yrs old and was treated for severe periodontitis in Feb 2008. I already have overcrowded teeth and they are now protruding because of drifting. In addition I was told I suffer from bruxism. I have always had dental checkups and been assured “everything was ok” in spite of complaing about recession around a crown an pain on biting. I am destroyed by how my teeth now look and am suffering panic attacks and depression. All this was a huge shock as I had no idea. I want some restorative work, but my new dentist has suggested I think about orthodontics instead. I’m not sure the teeth will have a good appearance even if I endure it as they are now yellowing with large gaps. I have nearly sent myself mad looking at solutions on the web and am terrified of choosing the wrong dentist after a catalogue of poor treatment in the past and also am not in a postion to pay a colossal amount of money. Am I doomed to dentures? Thank you.

White sore on the gum, is there anything that can be done to stop the pain

Monday, March 23rd, 2009
Q.
Good day, I recently bit my gums extremely hard when I was eating. Ever since then, there has been a pain sort of like a burn that come whenever food, drinks, my tongue come into contact with the sore. It almost resembles a white sore. Is there anything that can be done to stop the pain? Or even making the healing process faster? It has made eating extremely uncomfortable. Thank you!

what is the cost and side effects of osseous surgery

Monday, March 9th, 2009
Q.
Hello, I live in German town Maryland and I have question about osseous surgery, it’s cost and any side effect. My wife’s dentist has suggest her a gum disease and advised surgery for removal of ERU 1,16,17 & 32 teeth as well as osseous surgery per qu for UR,UL,LL & LR. My question is how serious is situation and could any delay cause problem later on?. The dentist has given an estimate of around 5587.00. Is this cost reasonable or too high?. I am not in a situation to afford this high cost surgery and what is your suggestion to deal with it. Please also advise if it has any side effect after surgery and how it could be avoided. Thanks

peridontal surgery is an interest to me

Monday, March 9th, 2009
Q.
Dear Dr Solanki, I visited my local dental practice today to get my teeth cleaned by a hygienist. She mentioned I had gum recession at the bottom of my front teeth. In previous conversations I have mentioned this to my dentist he has stated it will get better. I feel really paranoid as you can see the bone of my teeth and my big worry is that I dont wanna loose my tooth. I have done some research I have found out about peridontal surgery which is an interest to me because I would rather have surgery to cover up my missing gum tissue. I dont mind paying the cost of the surgery. I just need some advice of what I can do. I dont know places in Rochdale or Manchester where these treatments are provided. Please can you help me. Thanks

I have gum disease and have been to lots of sessions with the hygienist

Thursday, March 5th, 2009
Q.
Hi, I have always been frightened of the dentist through a bad experience as a child. 2 years ago I plucked up the courage and went to see a p rivate dentist who done a temp bridge but I had to have loads of sessions with the hygenist due to a problem with my gums. I had gum disease which my mother also had so I think it is something hereditory. After months and months of treatemnt with the hygenist I couldn’t afford to keep going and my gums were getting better but if I stopped going to the hygenist it would come back no matter how much I followed her instructions but then I had to go and work away, I am due home and will probably start treatment again but I am wondering how long should it possibly take as there is nothing that she hasn’t done and until she gives the go ahead then they wont replace the temp crown which is now getting quite discoloured. What do you think I should do as this effects my whole appearance and I am so desperate to have my front teeth sorted out.

Over the past 5 years I have lost nearly all my teeth

Tuesday, February 17th, 2009
Q.
Over the past 5 years I have lost nearly all my teeth, I always tried to take care of the brushing, flossing, mouthwash etc.I was told that giving up smoking had made my teeth come loose, but that is trash i think.Nothing seemed to work to prevent the loosening i would get an infection and one tooth would loosen and then another, I would go to the dentist and have a tooth out then it was several teeth, the last three times i have been to the dentist I have had four teeth taken out. I have no top teeth and only four bottom back teeth now and the denture is not good, My confidence has hit an all time low, it is affecting my eating and drinking, and my social life because the denture will not stay in place. What can you do to help me get my confidence back and what sort of cost would I be looking at , I want to be able to smile without fear of my denture falling out for my daughters wedding.
