i live on the costa del sol andrequire do you think crowns are better than veneers

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009
Q.
I live on the Costa del Sol andrequire extensive dental treatment including a number of dental implants. One clinic has quoted me a cost of 1600€ per implant. Another 900€ per implant. Is there any specific reason for such a differencein the price? I have had a consultation with the surgeon at one of the clinics who will carry out 2 extractions and insert 2 implants on the same day. Is this a recommended practice? in addition I wanted a number of porcelain veneers because my upper front teeth have been filled many times and now look unsightly. However I am being advised not to have veneers but instead to have 10 zirconia crowns at a cost of 580€ per crown. Do you think crowns are better than veneers. I also understand that prior to having the crowns I must have route canal fillings of all my teeth. Please advise.

Kindly quote for last upper molar to be crowned – not my wisdom tooth as that has already been removed. This tooth has had an emulgam filling for many years and the otter side of the tooth has just broken away. With thanks

what is the difference between porcelain crowns and vinyl crown

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009
Q.
Hello, I have recently had to go to have a old crown measured for a new one, im not entirely sure what the old one was made of. It had lasted me the best part of 12 years, it just discoloured over time. My current dentist said he cant give me an exact colour match to my own teeth and it will be a Vinyl crown. I am feeling very apprehensive about my new crown, as I am not only paying a lot of money, but it is one of my two front teeth, so I will feel very concious of smiling like I was with my old one. Can you advise me on what i should ask my dentist to do if i am dissatisfied with my new crown once i have it fitted. Also what is the difference between a Porcelain and a Vinyl Crown? Thank you

i have overlapping front teeth my question is whether veneers or crowns is the best option

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009
Q.
Hi, Im hoping you can help one very confused person! I have 2 overlapping front teeth. Apart from that my teeth are fine.I am considering having veneers/crowns fitted to improve my smile. I would get braces, but am inhibited by the the time that would take and the cost (I dont want the ones that can be seen -I would if I thought it affordable or possible, get ivisalign or the ones set behind the teeth). So my question is I suppose, veneers or crowns? I have an appointment with a dentist in the next couple of weeks and and am not sure which is the better option, in terms of causing minimal damage to my teeth in the long run? Any advice would be much appreciated!!!! Thanks

do you think it is necessary to have mouth guards when i lift weights

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009
Q.
Hello Dr. Solanki. I just had a question about my crowns. I got crowns on 22 of my teeth because I had very bad stains, and I was told by my dentist that they are better than veneers because veneers tend to bend. He told me that he advises that I use mouth guards when I lift weights? Do you think that this is necessary? Do I only need one on the top when I lift weights or I need one on top and the bottom? Also, the job that I am in, we tend to run a lot. He advises me to run with my mouth guard in too. Do I need to use my mouth guard when I run, if when I run, I don’t clinch my teeth? Can I was my mouth with regular mouthwash (Listerine)? Can I consume alcoholic beverages fine?

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009
Q.
Hi, I chipped my front tooth around July last year and just under half of it went. Im 14 and I got a filling put in. I was wondering if I can wear a mouth guard without the filling coming out. Also what procedures will happen in the future? Thanks.

Problem with my root canal treatment affecting my confidence and my lifestyle advice

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009
Q.
Following an accident about 18 months ago one of my front teeth was knocked out- this was able to be replaced by a doctor in A and E. I then had root canal treatment on the tooth by my dentist. Unfortunately the tooth was not replaced straight and is alot more forward than the one at the side of it and slightly overlaps. Since the accident my confidance has been significantly affected. I find I cover my mouth when I laugh or smile. Also I have recently noticed movement in my gum when I bite down on the tooth- im concerned the tooth will crack or fall out and so I tend to eat on one side of my mouth away from the effected tooth. Are there any solutions available to restore my confidance in my smile and with eating food again? Thank you.
