I have noticed that my teeth are very yellow recently and I would like to know more about teeth whietning. I have heard that some teeth don’t benefit from whitening and I would like to know if there is a way to tell without spending lots of money?

I am 25, I have gaps in between and either side of my front 2 middle teeth please advice.

Q.
Hi, I had 2 front teeth taken out when I was younger. Either side of my middle two. I have had gaps for years and it has made me very depressed. I think the gaps have gotten smaller over time, and my two front teeth now have a small gap between them too, as if they have spread out. I have been reading about implants but this seams like it wouldn’t be an option as the gaps are now too small for replacement teeth, but too large for braces to pull them together. I am not sure what to do. I don’t currently have a dentist, this problem has been upsetting me for years I am now 25, and I have not been able to face the dentist since they took the teeth out when I was 19. Thanks.

I experiencing some discomfort in my crowned front tooth should i need an surgery

Saturday, June 6th, 2009
Q.
I have a post and crown on a front tooth that I’ve had for some 20 years. I’m currently experiencing some discomfort and sensitivity in the tooth although I’m told by my dentist that there is no nerve there. I’ve been referred to a specialist who suggests that there is bacteria in the root canal, and I need minor surgery to clean it up (at £500). The specialist says there is nothing to see on the X-ray, but this is the most likely cause. He says surgery is better than removing and replacing the crown and post, as they’re a very good fit (although not a particularly good match for my other teeth. I have three questions: (1) does this sound like good advice from my specialist? (2) What other possibilities are there if his diagnosis is wrong? (3) I’m concerned that the problem will recur after surgery. I’m in my late 40s and my gums are receding. I guess the problem has occurred because there are gaps in the seal between post and gum. Thanks very much

My dentist has chose not to crown my root canal filling on my upper molar what do you think

Saturday, June 6th, 2009
Q.
I had a root canal filling on my first right upper molar two years ago, which my dentist chose not to crown. It recently split, and a portion on the front of the tooth was cut away above the root which left around 75% of the tooth in tact. This was built back up with appropriate “build up” materials. However my dentist still declined to consider a crown. I was originally with denplan but my dentist chose to switch to an internal private insurance scheme. I am over 60 years of age which may have a bearing on his decision.Do you think the tooth should be crowned ?

My root canal front teeth looks very bad would a veneers be a more suitable option for me?

Friday, June 5th, 2009
Q.
I have a dead front tooth, its a root canal and also has a bad looking filling in it. Is there anything I can do to make this tooth look alot better and natural. I paid alot of money last year to have inside outside bleaching and whitening of all my teeth but the one front tooth looks worse than ever and now my dentist wants to cap it. I am not sure this is the best thing to do. Would a veneer be more suitable? Thank you for your time and help.

one of my crown post is damaged and replacement is not suitable. Should i have implants?

Friday, June 5th, 2009
Q.
I have 4 upper front crowns fitted a number of years now. One of the crowns is lose and on seeing my dentist he has informed me that the crown post/root is damaged and a replacement crown/post is not suitable. He has recommended that I have an implant done and further more has suggested that I replace all four front upper crowns with implants now as over time all 4 posts will become defective. He has suggested that the cost will be around £10,000.00 for the work. Do you think that this advice is sound and is the best and only option open to me ?

I have radiation induced xerostomia and i lost most of my enamel what are the long range options

Thursday, June 4th, 2009
Q.
I have radiation induced xerostomia. My dentist tells me that the enamel is nearly gone (almost all of my teeth have been effected). What are my options for treatment. I don’t have cavities YET. It does hurt to chew crunchy foods and sometimes to brush my teeth. I am already using daily flouride trays and floss multiple times a day. My concern is for long range planning. My dentist would like to do a few crowns every year. I don’t want to put that kind of money into my mouth if the crowns aren’t going to last forever. Ideas?
