one of my crown post is damaged and replacement is not suitable. Should i have implants?

Q. I have 4 upper front crowns fitted a number of years now. One of the crowns is lose and on seeing my dentist he has informed me that the crown post/root is damaged and a replacement crown/post is not suitable. He has recommended that I have an implant done and further more has suggested that I replace all four front upper crowns with implants now as over time all 4 posts will become defective. He has suggested that the cost will be around £10,000.00 for the work. Do you think that this advice is sound and is the best and only option open to me ?

A. Hi
the advice to changew a failing post crown with another one if this is possible should be ruled out witha second opinion but if this cannot be done an implant is an ideal choice
if there is a defect with the other post crowns you can replace them now or as and when they give you problems although this will work out more expensive
you may want to explore the feasability of a dental bridge but discuss the pros and cons with your dentist
